Yea.. My BR player stopped supporting Hulu.. Still supports Netflix, Vudu, and Prime..

We also have a firestick.. bought it jailbroke it, but i've since restored it to factory conditions.. You can usually find those cheap and you can keep those updated easier.

--Just wanted to watch it. I liked it a lot better than their first one.

Gotham S5 / NF
--FINALLY it hits NF. Man, this thing is interesting. I got about 6 episodes to go till I'm done.

Paycheck/DVD
--I liked it.

Batman / BR
--Gearing up on Joker movies before Joker.

The Dark Knight/BR
--same as above

Joker/ Theater
--This movie is on a completely different level of psychology of the Joker than any other incarnation I can think of. Part Jack Nicholson, part Heath Ledger, and honestly, part that guy doing Joker on Gotham. I really liked it and I really was into how dark and down the line it went into the formation of Joker's attitude towards the world.

Rambo Last Blood / Theater
--This movie was a mixed bag IMO. Story was ok but it left out a lot of connecting points. Some real odd lack of exposition for some of the relationships. And then why would Rambo build a series of tunnels underground in his yard. The PTSD angle, the human trafficking angle, and to some degree the border crossing angle were good building blocks for a movie but somehow this movie just didn't connect like the last one did for me. For the series, I put 3 and 5 at the bottom. 1 and 2 are still tops to me. 4 was a pretty legit movie. All of that said, if you want that R Rated Rambo action then this movie will satisfy you.

Saw the Joker as well and boy was it dark and gritty. The grittiness reminded me a lot of movies like A Clockwork Orange and Taxi Driver. If those movies are your thing you'll like this version of The Joker.

I'm with you on the A Clockwork Orange and Taxi Driver vibes.... I might would even throw in Insomnia.

RE: The movie thread
Gotham S5 / NF
--IT FINALLY CAME UP! A very interesting series finale. I really liked what they did with the series and I liked who played all the major players and I like some of the depth it offered. I thought their Bane was a little off but at least he was nowhere near that travesty from Batman and Robin. I think it was a smart move to go Jim Gordon focused but I thought the Barbara/Lea thing was a bit overdone. If I come across a great price I might add this to my physical collection of super hero stuff.

Halloween 1-5 / dvd
--Its that time of the year. I actually do like 1,2,4, and 5 as a continuation of the core story. #3, while the odd man out, I do kind of like for its uniqueness. I'll probably do the next wave which is H2O- ??? the one before Rob Zombies remakes soon. I think next wave was kind of hit and miss and did in some ways feel like lets milk it. Zombie's two weren't bad but also, didn't have the vibe, that the first two had. The latest one was kind of interesting, I just don't own it yet.

Sleepy Hollow/dvd
--One of Depp's better efforts IMO. The humor, the action, and Halloween aspect of it hit a lot of marks with me.

Compulsion/NF
--A really weird movie that feels like its inspiration was Eyes Wide Shut.

The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance / NF
--I got about 4 episodes left but I like what they have done with it so far. Makes me want to re-watch the original movie to freshen up on some details though. I do like the depth in the story this one is going for though.

Harry Potter The Order of the Phoenix / BR
--Nothing like HP movies during October LOL.

Went and saw Gemini Man last weekend and I actually liked it, despite what most of the experts had to say about it. The action scenes were very good and the plot twist at the end was unexpected.

Wife and I saw it and absolutely hated it. First movie i've walked out of in at least 20 years. It was incredibly depressing and not in a "Beautiful Boy" type of way, but rather just a total downer. I didn't care about any of the characters. It just felt so empty and soulless.

I really did like The Watchmen movie from a few years back a lot. And in a chance of fate, I have caught bits and pieces of The Watchmen HBO series the last 3 days in what I think is 2 episodes but not 100% sure. But the material I have seen in this doesn't seem to mesh with characters and storylines I got from the movie. Is the HBO thing something completely different?

RE: The movie thread
A Nightmare on Elm Street (reboot)/br
--Say what you want, I liked the reboot movie. I felt it had a lot of potential to become a new set of sequels in the series but I guess "the man" felt otherwise. I appreciated it kicking out some of the cheese of the later movies and going a little darker and IMO, more intune with the setup of the movie. Also, doing a better job of introducing Freddy, and his ties to the kids he's haunting.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 1-Dream Child /dvd
--A series that started off strong and I kind of liked Dream Warriors. But Dream Child and Dream Master really did stretch thin in a lot of aspects. Dream Master was kind of like the breaking point on that end.

A Nightmare on Elm Street Freddy's Dead / dvd
--An interesting concept that I think some of the cheese humor kind of took it out of its rhythm.

New Nightmare/dvd
--Personally, I thought this way of working back into the ANoES universe and how they did it made it one of the strongest entries in the overall series.

Maleficent Mistress of Evil/theater
--Not bad IMO. I felt like I needed to rewatch that first one again before seeing this one though. The family and personal history dynamics really make the tale work and the way they play out with Maleficent not necessarily being "the" villain was pretty cool.

Dolemite is my Name/NF
--Eddie Murphy really does do a great job with this movie. Its like Eddie Murphy doing a Blaxploitation flick about a real guy who made a real Blaxploitation movie. The story of Rudy Ray More was very interesting in all he went through to get to where he got.

Book of Eli- Netflix- Never saw this movie.. Only watched it due to hearing that the Robertsons (Phil and Jase) talking about this movie.. It was actually pretty interesting.

When We First Met- Netflix- Kinda a cheesy rom com type movie with Adam Devine.. It has a few cheap laughs, nothing like Game Over Man, but still kept my attention for the entire movie.

Wesley Snipes was the star of this movie in my opinion. Eddie was great but Wesley was absolutely hilarious!!!

The Hunger Games series/BR
--A pretty solid tale with good action and drama. Donald Sutherland really delivers as the main villain.

Manhunter/Red Dragon/The Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal / BR
--I just wanted to watch me some Hannibal Lecter LOL. I think Silence and Red Dragon are the best two in the series with Manhunter being a solid #3. I kind of like its mix in some ways versus the remake as Red Dragon. Hannibal, while having its moments, just didn't get the juices flowing like the others. Hannibal Rising, the arguably 5th movie in the series I didn't go back and watch this time. While not bad, that one was missing "the thing." I also liked the tv series but I didn't go back and watch that.

National Lampoon's Loaded Weapon 1/ NF
--A pretty decent lampooning comedy of the Lethal Weapons. I had totally forgotten Sam Jackson was in it.

Desperado / Showtime
--One of my favorite action movies.

It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood- Theater- Caught it last night.. It was good.. If you grew up watching Mister Rogers, watch it.. Tom Hanks does an excellent job.. The whole movie is like an episode of Mister Roger's Neighborhood. It was entertaining..

RE: The movie thread
Harry Potter 1-7.2/BR
--Decided to go through the whole series this last week. When this series started as movies I was really into how the story was playing out. I also recall how running into a customer at work wanted to boycott the movies because it promoted witchcraft. I'd say my favorites in the series were Prisoner of Azkabahn, Goblet of Fire, and Order of the Phoenix. Deathly Hollows was pretty cool in terms of content.

Lethal Weapon 1/ BR
--After doing Loaded Weapon I had to go back to the source material LOL.

Undercover Brother 2/NF
--I had no idea this was a thing till I saw it pop up on NF. I loved the Eddie Griffin original a lot. Hell, with the animated shorts it was based on that were bonus material on the dvd of Undercover Brother 1 I liked those too. Anyway, this one basically puts Michael Jai White in Eddie Griffin's role as Undercover Brother. It picks up the movie right after the end of the first movie with The Man escaping. Basically this movie evolves along the lines of Undercover Brother gets up with his brother to fight the man but with a twist of fate and an unfortunate accident, it will be his brother that actually has to work with The Brotherhood to stop the villain's plot. But lets say its not necessarily The Man this time, its his....son. And lets say Undercover Brother the original comes back to assist in the end. A few things I will put out there about this one though are: the movie feels from the level of the first one, in other words they didn't put enough money behind it; instead of the more direct racial stereotypes they made fun of in the first one they change that line of humor to WOKE individuals and political correctness along with some of the racial humor from the first one, IMO, that line of thought feels kind of a cheap way to go even if it fits the plot of the movie well; and lastly, Michael Jai White played the 70s black bad ass character much better in Black Dynamite than here...he's missing what Eddie Griffin did with it to make it flow more natural(and it felt like a redux of a character he had already done in Black Dynamite). I found the brother types to be way to easy of doing it and very uninspired and derivative versus the much stronger personality types they used in the first one. In short, its not a bad watch, but you can tell it was a direct to video sequel.

RE: The movie thread
I made some purchases and watched some this weekend:

Olympus Has Fallen- Netflix (purchased later)- It's an action movie with an easy plot. I like it. Butler plays a tough guy and the stunts are not too unbelievable. Maybe some of the knives to the brain, but nothing major.

London Has Fallen- Digital (purchased)- Part two. Follows the same formula as the first one, believable stunts, but the plot is different and it's not Olympus has fallen but in a different country.

Angel Has Fallen- Digital (purchased)- Part three. Same thing, but different plot, plus he acknowledges he's getting old and it's tough. No more Aaron Eckhart. Now you have Morgan Freeman as the president.. Nick Nolte joins the crew.. It's good.. It's got a little bit of a twist, but if you're paying attention you won't get lost, hell if you're half watching it, you won't get lost.

One thing about Angel vs Olympus is that unlike Stallone or any of the aging actors in action movies, Angel does show the hero being human and has faults.

Yeah, I tacked on some BR deals from BBY and got quite a bit of movies(basically, I would have bought all of these on release week but with crappy sales I passed till much better deals came along):

Dark Phoenix
Spiderverse
Far From Home
Captain Marvel
Bumblebee
John Wick 3
Venom
Shaft 2019
Toy Story 4
Halloween 2018
Pet Sematary
MIB International
Rush Hour BR Trilogy

As far as actually watched from the shopping trip:

Pet Sematary/BR
--Man, I just loved this horror movie. I had no attachment to the original so I didn't get it on BR.

Captain Marvell/BR
--I wanted the complete MCU set and I only lacked this one. I'd put it to the mid lower tier of the movies in the group. I think there are key story point to revisit from this movie but I kind of found the Skrull/Kree/Human play on power transfers, motives for actions, and who fights for what kind of confusing to some degree but I did think the Nick Fury and Captain Marvel focus was a good move.

John Wick 3/BR
--#3 makes my T10 most bad ass action movies of all time easily. It will be interesting to see how they play #4. I do find some of the above and below the "high table" and the "rules of engagement" and "the consecrated grounds of the Continental Hotel" kind of equally generic but interesting and the fact that over the three out how things came to resolution at the end of #3.

Bumblebee /BR
--After the Bay movies I thought it was a wise play to strip out all the extraneous stuff and go G1 for character designs, cut out the token love story angle, and tone down the Sector7 comic relief. Still though, as much as I love the G1 Transformers universe I still don't get how Bumblebee is the character they fixate on. That said, I don't necessarily mind a non Optimus Prime option.
