Thoughts?
DYK the closest Big 12 Conf member to WVU is located in Ames, Iowa (Iowa St)? Just a quick 873 mile drive.
Yeah...thats what you get when you join a conf who's members are sooo, sooo, far away.

An in-State, conference rivalry would be fun. Though I don’t know that App really fits the profile of what the AAC is looking for. I wish we could join the Mountain West, minus that whole geography thing.

They could fit in both actually. The ACC already has 14 members though. West Virginia would be a good 12th member for the AAC since we are losing UConn. They would also fit in the East Division for the AAC geographically.
Now, if you’re saying that because they are a P5 school, it’s only going to be a matter of time before the AAC is treated as an equal. The AAC is currently performing better that the ACC in football. Seven schools are currently in the top 40 RPI which matches SEC, Big 10, and PAC 12. So the AAC is in the mix. They fit the AAC well and would strengthen our brand. Just my thoughts.
I think they'd be a better fit for the ACC because that's were their rivals are. Pitt VT and to a lesser extent Cuse and Miami plus UVA UNC and Duke would hate them and hate losing to them (at least in basketball) so some good rivalry potential there.
The ACC blew it by inviting Louisville instead West Virginia. You get alot less baggage and a better football program. West Virginia killed their recruiting by joining the B12. They will never get good recruits out of Texas and cut their pipeline for those east coast recruits. Louisville would've been better in the B12 and West Virginia in the ACC. Hopefully it gets so bad for West Virginia in the B12 that pull a UCONN that drop down to the AAC.

The America would still be at 12 and much better position with Louisville. However I imagine Houston, Memphis, Louisville, and Cincinnati would have been in the Big 12 by now to be at 14 leaving us with only nine members and a very spread out conference.
Louisville announced they were leaving the AAC BEFORE the ACC ever considered them.
UL would not have been part of the AAC.
And you believe that because Louisville is so trustworthy.
I believe it because UL filed their paperwork to leave the conference months before the ACC invited them...
.
That's the way it happened. Belief is irrelevant.

WVU was already int he Big 12 by the time they added Lville. They didnt blow it, because it wasnt an option.
In truth, Uconn was doing well during that time. The ACC screwed up by not inviting them. They took a mediocre Lville when they could have gotten a National champion Uconn.
