Latest expansion news
Miko, you're my hero.

Anyways, I have intelligence that the AAC will replace UConn with either Southern Miss or UMass. This isn't in any way a parody, spur of the moment comedy or poking fun at a long time member (troll?) of the board.

You're welcome.

Well this is a garbage take.

The AAC is not adding UMass or Southern Miss. They don't bring either brands or tv markets (no one in Boston cares about UMass). Move along.

I hope it eventually is USM. The collective brain implosions from AAC fans and a few LT fans would be so entertaining.

I heard the press conference has been scheduled for the third Friday in November.

Stay tuned.

And if they both say no, then, obviously, the AAC will invite the University of Southern Massachustts. 07-coffee3

One state off. Southern New Hampshire has been named on this site as a D1 candidate.

I'm in Boston and I care.

I provide the entire TV market, so that should be good enough.

Being named a D1 candidate on this site, is no accomplishment

As a Tulane fan, I would personally be glad to have USM in the league. Competitively, they would be a good add overall.

But I know that my viewpoint on USM is a small minority among AAC decision-makers. Oh, well.

Too plausible to be a Miko thread. Swap USM with UTEP or something and you've got it.

It actually is pretty plausible.

UMass is the market and has the potential to be a big basketball program again.
USM has a long history with these schools.

Those are the two most likely. Marshall, Toledo, Northern Illinois and Rice would be longshots. Everybody else is pretty much a zero (although obviously they would take Army or BYU first if either would come)

I hope they have their respective AD's bare fist box to decide who gets the spot. Put it on PPV and between that and the entry fees you'll have a nice little windfall

I heard Liberty will pay the AAC to join. The AAC is taking the money. 2021 title game will be in Lynchburg, VA. Miko will thank me.

But have offered a lot more than the $10 million they tried to bribe the Sun Belt and CUSA with.

I'd be shocked, but I'd be good. USM was a good conference mate in CUSA, and I enjoyed my road trips there. My best friend's wife is a USM alumna, so we always get together for that game and tailgate with her friends that still live in Hattiesburg. I still prefer App State, but USM is a better candidate than a lot of the big market schools that aren't bringing much to the table beyond their location.

The AAC taking money would never completely shock me. Let Liberty cut the AAC an $11m/yr membership dues payment, and I can get over being associated with them.
