Monday Musings
What is old is new again and for the third year in a row after beating a Big Ten team the Emus lose a head Scratcher of an opener up in Mount Pleasant (not a mountain nor pleasant) Team kills any momentum and good will they had from the win over West Rutgers (Illinois) and it appears the weather will do its best to keep the Homecoming crowd down.

In hearing Creighton speak from time to time his program seems to thrive when off the radar but struggles with the spotlight. Here is hoping we can get things right and defeat the bronze stalk champions Ball State.
Ball State and Northern Illinois have a way cooler rivalry trophy then any of the ones we have.. Do we have one?

Looks the road to Detroit got Detoured on US-27 but we can still get there with some help and playing better.

Michigan MAC trophy. Pretty sure that’s it. I wouldn’t mind one with Toledo, considering they’re the closest school to us in the conference. But there is probably more of a rivalry there in basketball than in football.

Come on, dude. It's a little much now. We're 2-2 with CMU over the past 4 years and just beat Toledo last season (meaning we'd have the trophy).

I wish we were Toledo’s rival, but we’ve only beaten them twice this century.

First of a couple items of some note:

The new FB league, XFL, will hold their draft next week. There might be potential for some recent EMU players.

Some fmr. FBS FB and MBB and WBB are eligible to receive settlement monies from a suit filed against the NCAA.

The monies relate to cost of attendance for those who played in the immediate years before cost of attendance stipends was adopted by the NCAA.

Honestly I would not put much stock into this draft or the players to be selected, it is more of a PR splash than an actual functional event. I am sure that Rachwal, Roback, etc... will get a look if they are willing to try out with any team. For a guy who still wants to participate in the sport, it is indeed a valid opportunity.

This league, however, probably presents a career opportunity similar to minor league baseball. You can sign with virtually any team and work for a diminished salary hoping for that selection to the "Big Time". I like it, some players will succeed to the NFL and some young guys will get another chance that they will not have had before. I suspect, however, that a guy like Kyle Rachwal who is impressive beyond football will opt to pursue another career instead.

Just listened to CC press conference regarding Homecoming and Ball State. I am no body language expert but definitely a more subdued CC than we've seen recently. Hopefully nothing a big win on Saturday won't cure.

"Central Michigan quarterback David Moore has tested positive for a banned substance and has been suspended by the NCAA." Link: http://www.cm-life.com/article/2019/10/c...ible-story

Per that report, it was a performance-enhancing drug.

If it turns out to be Ligandrol, McIlwain should be suspended. Total coincidence that 2 of his QB's from different schools get popped?......I think not.

Any other D1 QB's EVER been suspended for PED'S, other than these 2? Can't remember any off top of head.

Un-friggin'-believable. And I thought it was our defense enhancing his performance.
