UCF vs UC Best of 10?
Great win Friday night.

Lots of things went our way - including 4 turnovers - and a huge crowd advantage. Me thinks we would be lucky to win 4 of 10 - especially if the games are home and home.

That’s not how football works and one of the beauties of it. Any given game a team can take down a favorite if they play a clean game, have the proper game plan, etc...

To me making this type of comment really only takes away from what this team and coaching staff have accomplished over this season, and even last season.

In the end, you may see it as luck, but I saw a team that was able to out scheme their opponent by playing 27 defenders during the game and having the coaching staff to come up with the game plan along with the talent, depth, and confidence to do so. I saw a defense shut down one of the best offenses in the country. I saw an offense that was able to score when they needed, run the ball well enough to control the clock, and eventually grind their opponent down.

A dumb premise because we only play once. This is not the NBA.

I will play. We are already up one to zero. They have to win six to our three to get to six wins. I do not think it happens.

RE: UCF vs UC Best of 10?
Both teams only completed 54% of their passes. UCF threw it a lot more though - they had 15 more pass plays than us.

Cincinnati got 4.7 yards per rush, and UCF got 3.0 yards per rush. That was the difference. They actually had 1 more rushing play than us - not sure how they got 16 more plays from scrimmage than us...

Both defenses were stout. Cincinnati's offense was 4 for 16 on 3rd down conversions. UCF was 6 for 17. UC got 3 sacks and 8 tackles for loss. UCF got 1 sack and 7 tackles for loss.

Each season is a best of ONE.

We won.

We won 1 of 1 this year. That's what matters this year. I'll take it and hopefully we do the same against Houston.

Not really a dumb premise. Anyone can win a game once. The true test is if you played 10 times what would probably happen. Why do you think they run the computer simulations thousands of times to predict an outcome.

My guess UC splits with them or wins 4 out of 10 at home. Next year I think UC will be stronger and it should be an even better game.

Unless you are Liberty and NM State who are playing a home and away.

LMAO!

It's irrelevant. You can't play 10 in football. If you did we might actually win most of them with more depth. The reality is Ucf now is playing with an inexperienced qb, while qb has been their biggest asset the past couple years. It happens to everyone.

That's why they play the games.

This isn't long-format cricket (which takes 5 days and the best team wins almost every time). This isn't a best-of-7 series in MLB. This is football.

I agree that it's OK to speculate on it on a message board and I'll even play along with you and say if the other 9 games (5 at UFC, 4 more at Nippert) were all played right now UC wins between 4 to 6 out of 10. So I'll go with 5 to be exact.

But I think the point of your opposition is if the true test was all about speculating who is better on paper or even on film, which I think is basically the point you are getting at, why even play the games? Let's just call OSU the National Champs this year and move on? We don't do that because it's not really the point and you see it not only in college football, but even more dramatically in college basketball. You have to play the games and you often (MLB and NBA aside perhaps among others) just get one shot at it.

RE: UCF vs UC Best of 10?
Good teams find a way to win. Lesser teams find a way to lose. Fickle finds a way to win.

IMO there are perhaps 5 super teams and another 5 near super teams. Beyond that there are per 20 damn good teams that on any given day beat the other 19. When these teams play the games are thrilling and toss ups.
