Agree.
They never practiced enough how to not give up 110 yards of penalties.
Curious, Is that a record of some sort?

Carey's recent teams had some issues with penalties too. Not sure if it was quite that many yards.
But I don't care about the practice week. I go by what they do on game day. That's the only place where points are scored.

So often it’s WHEN a penalty occurs that is so damaging.

Yes penalties are not a good thing, and penalties obviously hurt NIU yesterday. So often, penalties are a result of lack of talent though. I guess my point is, bad penalties are not the primary thing making NIU a bad football team right now, they need significant talent upgrades. NIU is not ranked 114 right now because they commit bad penalties, that is a talent issue.

The talent is there, the discipline is not. Special teams lost the game against BSU, but that being said, I don't think Bowers is all that he was made out to be. He left several first downs on the field by not running the ball. NIU has always thrived with dual threat QB's, and Bowers isn't one.
I was hoping to see Childers in the 4th quarter yesterday to provide a spark.

Agree. Carey's teams won despite lack of talent by making less mistakes.
Those teams executed well on game day and won despite putting many points on the board.

Agree. But Thomas Hammock is devoted to Bowers. (His star recruit)

Watched the replay. We lost to a BAD team. We handed it away with stupid plays, the unsportsman like penalties and Jones f up on kick off. A true Pi$$er.
