You know your team has trouble when the SEC Network post game show is centered around, how can Vanderbilt regroup after this meh win vs NIU

This is a 4-5 win team. They will play it close in MAC play but the coaching will be the difference. Bet NIU loses close games in MAC play.

NIU betters big winners today. NIU covers the spread of 6.5.

So far this is a very questionable coaching hire

The MAC has been unimpressive, top to bottom, so far. Eastern Michigan looks to be the best/most consistent team thus far. NIU, and a few others, aren't far behind.

Hammock ended his radio interview after the game by saying what a GREAT JOB his coaches are doing!

I'll give Hammock the benefit of the doubt until he can get his own recruits in here and coach them up. I don't believe Carey recruited all that well, its not like this NIU team is stacked with talent but all the sudden became clueless because of a new coach.

Completely agree, but chin up! It’s only a little over a month to basketball and another great season by Monty!

I don’t see it that way at all. Our offense looks to be good. Bowers just threw for almost 300 yards against an SEC defense and he missed a couple at the 280 he threw. They will dominate the MAC defenses. Penalties absolutely killed us today. Eliminate half and I think the outcome is different.

Toledo and WMU will top the MAC West. NIU will be very lucky just to stay out of the bottom.

We won't get 6 wins this year, at least we won't have to worry about a bowl. Our offense is almost as stagnant as it was last year. No innovation, no trick plays, no "no-huddle".....nothing that would provide a spark. Vandy ran a flea-flicker for a TD.

And while Bowers can pass, I'd venture that Childers would not have taken those sacks for God knows how many yards. Bowers didn't run once all game.

Sorry for being down on the team, but I expected better this year, and I've been through some lean NIU football years.

Vandy helped quite a bit with 97 yards of penalties, including 4 "hands to the face mask".

At least the refs weren't like the partisan Big10 homers we're used to.

I think so. It’ll be a fight with BSU for last place. It puts even more importance on next week’s game.

That Vandy defense was rated one of the worst in the country. And we got 18 points. The penalties won’t change because of who we are lining up against and this was week 5. How long until they are “worked out”?

The Vandy defense that played basically two of the top 5 teams in the nation? We play in the MAC and is typically one of the worst G5 leagues every year. I have faith our offense will get going even better against the MAC
