Is anyone going to the fundraiser this week? My brother in law and sister in law will be there. Always exciting to hear their objective perspectives on where the team is at following that evening.

Tolefree has made the top 100 best names in the mid majors. Guess the basketball pundits are bored. The season can't start soon enough.

Tolefree? Out of all of our players?

I mean, I'm not disappointed someone is making the list but I figured a list like that and it would be our record setting PG, vice a player who hasn't logged a minute of legit time in our uniform.

Interesting.

One of the most interesting names to me is Golden Dike.

Two things:

1. First and foremost, they used "UNCW" beside his name. About time at least one media source gets that right.

2. Koch Bar (Bradley); Good grief... do his parents hate him?

Thanks. I definitely just skipped over the details and point of the list.

Never mind this just came out... https://caasports.com/news/2019/9/24/caa...edule.aspx

Looks like a majority of our games are on flo sports including the Unc game.

Personally I hate this, putting the largest non conference home game in our history behind a paywall.

I know it's the first official practice, and the first since Italy. But defense is definitely winning the day. There were still some nice things done on offense. Linnsen and Dodd are an added help down low. Linnsen with his boxing out and ability to play with his back to the basket. And Dodd is a beast who can finish down low. I think Simms all around solid. We also have more quicks and better shooting. Opponents will not be able to leave Skaggs free outside.
But, like I said, it's just one practice.

RE: Expectations for next year....
The SDN released a video montage of parts of practice as well as player and coach interviews a bit ago.

To the surprise of exactly nobody... Coach verbally stated he wants to play man to man defense. If anyone was expecting or hoping for deviation into more defensive scheme mixing, buckle up. Your disappointment is just around the bend.

I heard coach say it, but for some reason I didn't realize that due to graduation paperwork and inprocessing, Carter Skaggs wasn't eligible yet to participate in Italy. I didn't realize that. I'm excited to see him mixed into the group. Kai says he's one of the best shooters he's ever been around. That confidence from your play maker to a shooter, in my opinion, will translate well to the court.

Also excited about the Florida transfer, Michael Carter.

Ty Gadsden will NOT be ready to suit up at the start of the season. Coach stated he's in the rehab process though and all the surgeries are complete.

Definitely some good pieces, but we need to go ahead and mentally prep ourselves for A LOT of four guard lineups.

Also, Coach says there still has NOT been a determination made yet for Bowen. There's still a bit of time before the season starts, and hopefully they'll make that determination soon.

We desperately need that bigger body!

CG, watched the video too. Loved hearing the players talk. Kai continues to mature and could really be a leader on this team. Coach, Meh. More of the same coach speak, and same tired schemes. Hope there are some changes, but i'm prepping like there won't be.

I'm just hoping he now has the players he needs to make the system he wants to run successfully. Add in some in game adjustments.

Most important information I took away from CBs interview was that Gadsden is still hurt. They haven't said much about the significance of the injury but now that Okauru is eligible you have to wonder if a medical redshirt is being considered. Isaiah Thomas is the most notable NBA player that has suffered from a similar injury that I know of. He basically missed the whole year following his surgeries. I know Ty G is already old for his grade but I think it should be considered.

Playing small, in theory we should be able to defend the three more. But honestly, i don't think it was a personnel issue the last two years.

And unfortunately Thomas was never the same either.

If Ty takes a medical redshirt here he might end up a Grad Transfer afterwards.
