You need two scores and a 2-pt conversion regardless. If you try and fail now, you know you still need two scores. If you kick the XP and then score with no time left on the clock or with no TOs, and then try for the 2-pt and fail, the game is over. Essentially it just comes down to wanting to know how to gameplan the remainder of the game.

Disagree. It’s a 1 score game now. One score and a 2 pt conversion ties the game. If you fail the on the 2 pt conversion on the TD just scored, you need a TD and at least a FG.
