GJH tried to hire Fritz. When the general made the offer Fritz had SHSU in the nat champ playoffs and would not accept the offer until after the playoffs. The general would not wait and wanted an immediate commitment. Fritz stayed at Sam Houston and was runner up in the nat champ game.
