You realize marriage between 1st cousins is LEGAL in Tennessee, right?

The joke doesn't play well when our state permits it, but Virginia doesn't allow it.

Probably says more about East Tennessee than it does about Memphis, but I'll look into it.

We aren't in the minority here. If you include states that allow it with qualifiers - sterility, over the age of 55-65, not double first cousins etc. - there are 27 states that allow this. Not that I'd marry a first cousin but I've got a boatload of very attractive female cousins.

No. Way.

I can't remember if you live in Oregon or Washington but either way both of those states while not allowing 1st cuz marriage do allow for sexual relations and cohabitation.

Because NM State is in such a powerhouse league

I think Saban's point was that he didn't want to play them either. Just P5 schools only.

Well that's not going to happen, so we might as well go play them & get $1.5M check too.

Rather play Bama than USA on the road

Why? A road loss does nothing for our Access possibilities. And a blowout loss would be very damaging.

It was actually a shot at us, and our G5 status. Does not indicate a willingness to consider a series with us - actually the contrary.

I agree. Worst case it would be a quality loss.

Makes no sense when the goal for this program is to get the Access Bowl slot.

Beating USA helps achieve that outcome a lot better than losing to Bama.

Period. Bottom line.

We can either win the games in front of us and go to the Cotton Bowl on New Year's Day or hang out head high after losing to Bama while enjoying the Military Bowl in the middle of December.

I know which one I'd prefer.

Agreed...

Take the Million Dollar check and the prime opponent at the end of the year...

Granted we have to earn it.

The Access slot pays out about $4M. Per school. Cotton Bowl would be much bigger than a game at Tuscaloosa.

A creditable loss to Bama won't keep the AAC champ out of the NY6 bowl.

Not only that, you can guarantee the Mill from visiting the Alabammer hammer. So far, we haven't collected that $4MM check while NOT playing the Tide.

It will if the MWC school goes undefeated.

Same way tOSU didn't make the CFP back in 2017 because they played Oklahoma (and lost) in an OOC matchup of two top 5 teams.

Had they subbed OU for Cinci they make the CFP over Bama.

On the road in Tuscaloosa, you also run the risk of things getting away from you in the environment. A 20+ loss at Bama keeps you out as well.

The goal is to win the conference and claim the Access Slot. A game at Bama puts that goal at risk. It's just not worth it to me, but if the admin/coaches want to do it, fine. They know the real numbers - not you and me.
