2 shows on ACCN ... ACC Traditions, and Bowden Dynasty ...
I caught two shows this week on ACCN .. I thought both were very well done. I think one will be a series, at least it feels that way.

The ACC Traditions show, was a half hour, and focused on Boston College's fairly new football tradition honoring 9-11 Hero and BC alum Welles Crowther. What a powerful story that was. Wow. It feels like the network will be focusing on a tradition at each school. If true, the bar has been set VERY high with this episode.

The Bowden Dynasty was very well done, and was basically a fantastic history of Florida State football, although it chronicled Bobby's entire life. What a man Coach Bowden is. I enjoyed this too, and I suspect this will really resonate with the FSU faithful.

I'm digging this network. Packer and Durham in the mornings is must see TV for me now. Those guys are doing a GREAT job. Love the pups too.

I’m watching Packer and Durham this morning. Andrea Adelson is guest hosting for Durham who is traveling. The look on Packer’s face when Andrea talked about Louisville being ranked Number 1 in some ESPN talking heads poll was priceless.

Packer’s expression like “Andrea you’re not supposed to say anything good about Louisville. This is the basketball segment where we tell everyone how great Duke and North Carolina are going to be.”

As soon as Andrea finished her comment about Louisville the first comment out of Packer’s mouth.... “Duke and North Carolina play both games on the weekend this year”

The ACC Network has had some good moments but still has a long way to go as far as I’m concerned.

I haven’t heard Louisville as #1 nor was I given a reason to believe that last season.

But congrats, you cracked the anti-Louisville conspiracy in the ACC. Keep up the good work, ace.

I believe that Bowden Dynasty is a film that's been around for a couple of years. Smart pick up for the ACCN, though.

Missed the traditions show but the Bowden doc was great. Loving what the ACCN have shown so far.

I didn’t see Louisville ranked 1st in any preseason polls this summer, but they are going to be highly ranked to start the year. In June, following draft entrees and grad transfers being finalized, I saw a concensus poll made from the individual Top 25’s of 11 national basketball writers (guys like Goodman, Borzello, Katz, Rothstein, Davis, & Dauster). The average ranking of those 11 guys for the upcoming season was:

3- Duke
4- Louisville
7.5- North Carolina
15- Virginia
30.5- Florida St

I expect the top of the league to have a high number of conference wins this year. 20 game schedule and I see a steep drop off after the projected top 4. I’m personally not convinced UVA fully belongs in that top group for this year alone, but many understandably give TB the benefit of the doubt developing guys in his program, as on paper they don’t seem to match what those other three retained/brought in talent wise. It’s hard to doubt Bennett though and he does have full deed and title of Louisville until proven otherwise.

According to the official ACC/ESPN release:
Quote:"Four ACC men’s teams (No. 5. Louisville, No. 6 Duke, No. 8 North Carolina and No. 16 Virginia)... are ranked in ESPN’s Way Too Early Top 25 polls."
So the Cards are the highest-ranked ACC MBB team in ESPN's poll.

FSU fans are optimistic about the team. We lost a lot of seniors and a super sophomore, but brought in 4 transfers to provide mature depth. The cupboard is not bare of talent or upperclassmen leadership.

I don’t follow basketball that closely but Andrea said the guy’s name but I didn’t catch it. Honestly I was focused on Packer’s stunned look that somebody on the show stepped away from the Duke/UNC/UVA worship to mention another school.

Maybe it’s because those that have been in the conference for years take it for granted but being newer to The ACC, I listen for how many times a particular school is mentioned by whatever broadcaster is doing the segment on whatever show.

Andrea has always been seen as being fair minded when it comes to UofL while the Packers, father and son, haven’t. I have to admit Mark is better than his dad. His Dad’s love of all things ACC earned him an extra C in his name among fans outside the conference.

ACC fans probably have never noticed but Dick Vital always managed to work a Duke or Carolina reference at least more, usually more, in every game he called. That’s too much for me.

I guess I'm not as sensitive to the Duke/UNC bias you possess. Cuz it's completely missing me.

Packer has routinely praised Satterfield and the football team on his show so far.

Packer also went apesh!t over the Louisville Basketball court reveal on his show ... and proceeded to discuss players like Darrell Griffith, Wiley Brown, Poncho Wright, and other "Doctors of Dunk".

Packer (and Durham too, but especially Packer), has gone out of their way to give props to EVERY school in the conference on every show.

If the mere mention of UNC or Duke gives you problems, then the ACC Network isn't gonna be a good place for you.
