UC gets back on track and defends home turf. They will not lose the Victory Bell streak at Nippert!

I agree. Although I think many UC fans now have a sense of entitlement about winning this game and that can be a dangerous place to be if players feel the same way. Miami has been slowly improving under this coach and is actually recruiting pretty well the past couple of years.

Recent games have been close enough outcomes not to take them lightly. We can look down our noses at the MAC but even in last year's fine 11 win season, it took a game saving pick in the final moments of the 4th quarter to send a MAC opponent (THE Ohio University) home disappointed.

Let's get a great crowd. A win is needed to accomplish this season's goals--and to keep ringing the bell.

2017 was particularly memorable in that list as Miami snatched defeat from the jaws of victory...

Amazing Martin has kept his job this long.

Amazing Martin has kept his job this long.

He got an extension a couple years ago until after the 2020 season. The buyout is around $500K. I think he was on shaky ground last year, but the Redhawks beat Ohio for the first time in a long time and they finished 6-6. My guess is if he fails to get back to that mark again this year they'll let him go, otherwise they'll just ride this out until the contract ends.

What's up with those gold uniform pants in a Victory Bell game?

That's actually a picture against XU (yes they had gold pants then). The throwback uniforms for this weekend are inspired from the uniforms from 1957-60.

As with anything xu seems they were copying ND unis. Does that school have one original thought?

Man, there were seniors on the last MU team to actually ring the Victory Bell who will be looking square in the face at 40 years old in the not too distant future.

It’s become a friggin’ unicorn for an entire generation.

RE: Victory Bell Week!
Let's hope UC takes Miami as seriously as OSU appeared to take UC last week. The Bearcats cannot afford to drop this game. It seems extreme to say that in week three, but looking at the schedule ahead the 'Cats need a minimum of 5-6 more wins to be bowl eligible again this year and keep building the program.

Frankly, I'm kind of amazed Miami has kept Martin around this long with so little success. But then again, that program isn't really built for success anymore.

He's mostly been ok within the mac but an absolute abomination in the nonconference.

I have no idea how good Iowa is this year but they were only ahead of Miami by 3 points at the half (10-7). Anyone who stays home this sunny Saturday will miss a heck of a game.

Go 'Cats!

I dunno how many here are still subscribers but the Enquirer seems to have teamed up with PFF's college analyst(s) this year to discuss UC and specific player performance. They don't give all the deets, but there's some interesting stuff here if you have access:

PFF: Cincinnati Bearcats football o-line must improve against Miami U and for AAC play
