RE: This isn't rocket science. Time to show you have some basic smarts
It is a very simple fix. If CMN can hear the question, then a microphone that is omni directional can pick it up too. Now if the video camera they are using is not a professional quality unit, it probably does not have auxiliary audio input for a second mic that would be synced with the video.
But OP is correct. Not a whole lot of effort is being put into these productions. And if we don't complain, nothing will change.

Maybe Bandwagon Jumper can call Coach and get this fixed. And ask him about QB crisis while he is at it.

RE: This isn't rocket science. Time to show you have some basic smarts
everyone that says it's a simple fix are delusional. There's so much politics going on between the school and the media outlets for something like this. The schools that do it probably have some deals in place or they're at smaller schools that don't have the media coverage we do. For most of the Memphis media outlets, they make their money back on Tiger coverage. They won't want to give that up and let the University give away all the content for free.
RE: This isn't rocket science. Time to show you have some basic smarts
Sorry snowflakes
The very basic point, that we need to do better with some of the media, such as being sure that the viewer can hear the question etc...
Is swallowed up by referencing the White House as a model, considering they hardly ever have much more needed pressers, when they do the press secretary simply yells at the media (enemies) and the main subject lies all the time
I get your point, and am sure those gaffes will be addressed, but I’ll take our gaffes to lying and berating and whining at every chance. The white House Press Conferences reference was properly off putting, and I doubt you were unaware of that

Here is Coach Norvell doing a 20 minute Q&A on the Southern game and no one...has any idea of the questions being asked. So, you have to spend part of your time trying to figure out the question and also the name of the player being commented on by Norvell. This is BUSH LEAGUE. Come on...how's about a little bit of professionalism. Look at the White House Press Conferences and get the message!!!l The question is just as important as the answer and without hearing the question....you are putting out an inferior product. Geez....what is wrong with these folks??? Does no one GET IT at the U of M??
Did you try and get away with touting a White House press conference as some standard for professionalism?
We can only guess this is a great troll by you, if so well done.
If not, we would suggest not using the worst administration ever with the worst press conferences ever as a template.
If so, maybe Norvell could scream over a helicopter or have an internally ugly admitted liar yell at the media to cover up for her ignorance then let her quit and replace her with a criminal who has done nothing
Sorry man, but in this world these oh so smart attempts at propaganda or bad jokes will be met with swiftly every time.
What?! With equal stupidity!?!!
The point was that you can easily hear the questions being asked. It's obvious by your reply that your inability to understand basic concepts skews your political perception as well.

Talk about trolling and derailing a thread. Your political rant over something as inane as the school's athletic press conference is comical at best and loathsome at worst. Give the rest of us a break and let us enjoy some sports conversation without continually dragging politics into every conversation. Talk about a snowflake...
RE: This isn't rocket science. Time to show you have some basic smarts
Oh, and the press conference AV is terrible and amateurish. As a major university, they can and should do better. Hopefully, our new AD will pay more attention to things like this and get them addressed.
RE: This isn't rocket science. Time to show you have some basic smarts
I mean, instead of ranting on a dumb a$$ message board about it, why not just shoot a nicely written email to someone in the athletic department? In particular the media relations guy or whomever runs the Tiger athletic youtube account.
Hell, shoot them a message on twitter.
Coming here to ***** about it shows me you really don't care and are just looking to whine.
Same for the "game day experience" guys.

I'm not going to call him over something like this, but I will bring it up tomorrow at our weekly prayer breakfast. The 2nd meeting each month is at Shoney's. Mike lurves him some Shoney's breakfast bar.

Actually if you read my post...there was no referece whatsoever to the current White House...but only to White House Press Conferences in general. I have been watching them for decades and none of them ever had the reporters questions muted or cut out of the video's or live reports. I think someone is so sensitve to the current administration that they went off the deep end about a general comment.

Please do. The alternative of course is for Mike to repeat the question before answering it but....as the North Dakota and West Virginia videos show....that is not required if the proper equipment is used during the press conferences. The part that really gets me is when there is an apparent queston about an injury to a player or a players progress and I have no idea who Coach Norvell is talking about.

I have a different take on it. I, myself, have tried the "nicely written e-mail" to various departments to our University, and a few other entities in the past. It doesn't work. They don't care about one email. What they actually respond to is bad publicity. This board, as limited as it is, we suspect is being monitored by the administration. You may not believe it, but I happen to think various sports talk radio segments over the past sum years have been actually generated by talk on this board.
It may not actually work, but it IS a strategy. Don't just assume the person who started this thread doesn't care, or hasn't tried other avenues to no avail.

I have sent many emails to the Athletic Dept. I have received the following responses #1 response is NO RESPONSE and the #2 response is something like DON'T BOTHER ME. I am not sure if that is anyone else's opinion of the Athletic Dept but.....it is mine. Kind of the I LIVE IN AN IVORY TOWER attitude. So...perhaps a message board makes more sense. At least the message is getting out to fans that actually can also express their opinions on a subject that is actually MEANINGFUL. Seriously, if NORTH DAKOTA has figured out how to professionally handle a coach's press conference....exactly why has MEMPHIS not figured it out???

I have been in the media and managed radio stations in Memphis, Indianapolis and Dallas with news departments and can assure you, no one in the media is stopping any university from recording the questions being asked at a coach's press conference. All we ever cared about was getting a reporter to the event with a tape recorder so he/she could ask a list of predetermined questions and also so the reporter could be actively involved in the discussion taking place. If the U of M is also recording the event...they have just as much of a right to the content as the media. After all, it is a PUBLIC EVENT at a PUBLIC UNIVERSITY...not some top secret discussion that needs government approval before any disclosures are made.
