The Touchdown Horn
I think the athletics is trying it out. Some Furman fans were pissed because we celebrated touchdowns too loudly. Yay or nay?

I wasn't a fan and I'm sure I won't be when we come to Atlanta later in the year.

I see no problem with it. If opposing teams don't like it they shouldn't let you score.

Didn’t y’all use it last year too? I remember being there and thinking y’all must have borrowed Atlanta United’s goal horn.

The best part of the video is the roar from the fans though I have to say. Great that so many people came out.

Won't be an issue when they don't score any touchdowns will it? Similar to the fountain in Jonesboro, it won't light up if they never score.

I like it. Sounds like a train horn. And it makes sense considering Atlanta used to be called Terminus because of the major railroad junction there in the 1800's. Plus, the Zero Mile Post (the post that marked where the rail terminus was to be built) is only 1 mile from the stadium, which is the original location for the settlement of Atlanta around the railroad junction.

Either that or play a baseball organ song, for obvious reasons considering the baseball history in and around the stadium.

Pretty cool, but really would depend on the location of the speakers and how loud. I'm pretty sure that would be annoying to anyone with hearing problems or especially people wearing hearing aids if they are as loud as they seem in that vid. I've tried to avoid sitting under the press box speakers at Ladd because they've had them amped so high. They had them toned down on Saturday though, and I did like the ship horn.

Go for it. I was psyched when the GA National Guard brought in the 105mm Howitzer. It was pretty much 30 yards from me, scared the old folks but it got my blood pumping. Nothing’s better than loud noises when you’re riding that adrenaline high.

I mean, it does seem to follow GT and Atlanta United.

I understand the train part of Atlanta's history being a massive railway hub, so it's not out of left field or anything.

Is it loud? Very.

I love it. Though I agree with some it might need to be tuned to a lower decibel level. But fits perfectly for the school in the city built by and for trains.

Was watching NE vs Pittsburgh last night and their boat horn sounds pretty loud as well.

The fountains shot and lit up on our 3 field goals, but point taken.

Horn is really loud. Sound for pregame entrance and scores only, not before every defensive third down as they did Saturday night.

That changes things more than somewhat. But it doesn’t change that Furman still sucks.

I am good with third down. It really was disturbing to Furman.
