Couldn’t be worse timing to finally get them to schedule that game.
There are actually a ton of reasons we aren't ever gonna be Boise or UCF. Bad comparison. But there's no reason we shouldn't consistently be top tier with NIU and Toledo, and at least show up and compete every game.

If we hadn’t blown BallU last year, we are in the MACC

I didn't watch the game, but this really says it all, doesn't it?
Bad things: Lester still getting blown out by superior coaches/teams. Still hasn't won a big game. Defense is still trash.
Good things: Offense looks really good. Wassink is a good QB, and we've got weapons all over the field. We put up 350+ yards and 17 points on one of the best defenses in the country. MSU might have the best front 7 in college football, so not a bad offensive performance considering.
Also good news: The MAC looks terrible in general, so even if our team isn't great, we can still win a championship with this offense.

2003 Under Cubit we lost 26-21 and gave them a hell of a game.
I'm not sure anyone saw just after the end of the game, as the coaches were walking off the field. The winning coach had a look like he just lost. The losing coach had a grin like a 2 yr. old who just dropped one in his diaper!
Timmy is just glad to be here...……………….

I think he was showing some good sportsmanship and congratulating Dantonio on 109 wins, tying the school record. Dantonio has resting ***** face and very rarely smiles.

He didn't sound like that here...
Actually...he did. That was a coach perfectly fine with where we are in the pecking order. Instead of saying how proud he was and how happy he was that we got out healthy, it would have been great if he said something to the effect of:
- Their defense is what we want to become
- We need to learn how to take advantage of opponent mistakes
- We expect to compete and win at the highest levels
- We will build on the good and learn from the bad, and you won't see a performance like this again
I like Tim a lot, but he is not going to take this program far with the 'aww shucks' attitude.

We disagree. He said flat out we can't blow chances like that. He called out Dee for biting on the hitch, which State ran at him often, they saw something from the film obviously. That's not "being nice".
Ask Brindelee . He isn't "awww shucks" like you try to project on him when he's dealing with his coaches and players.
Are you trying to keep the seat warm for PJ so he has a place to go when Minny fires him?

Fleck would have this program at a much higher level

That doesn't mean expectations need to be lowered for the golden boy who was handed this job.
You guys were excusing Fleck's Georgia Southern embarrassment in his third year. See "NOT MSU"
Tim is in his third year, obviously didn't get the program in such great shape after Fleck left how he did, when he did, and is recruiting well. I think this year is the year he needs to be evaluated on, and not just a road game against a top 25 program that has one of the best D's in the land.
By November it should be obvious where we stand.

I’m sticking with my 7 wins. I thought our defense would improve but looks like it’s regressed. Since the MAC looks like garbage I think we still get to 7 which will probably get Lester another extension.
We may get passed up for a bowl, but if we make it I expect to get embarrassed again.
