After week 2, I would have to go with Mack Brown and the Tarheels

Miami should have won last night. Carolina was wistled for just one penalty of 5 yards and no holding. Miami played stupid much of the game, as Miami does. That said, Carolina now has a QB that can win a game and the old car salesman has the boys in blue excited again to play football.

Number 2 is likely a tie between Carolina, UVa, and NC State. UVa looks their best since Welsh. State has played two games without any mental mistakes and has two good QB's and a better defense than some thought. BC and WF are also right up there.

The next two weeks will tell a lot. FSU at UVa, UNC at WF, and CU at UNC, NC State at WVa.

The jury is still out. But I wouldn't choose UNC right now.

UVA right now.

I would not count out SU just yet. They had a bad game and their QB is still learning, they can rebound and still have a good year.

UVA or UNC, both doing great.

Overall, the ACC needs to see a MUCH better version of #2. 100% should be in top 10.

FSU and others not doing the job.

I doubt SU will be #2. I'd say a bowl game and 7-8 wins is tops and frankly 4-5 wins is not unrealistic. Maryland laid out a perfect plan to expose us. We might hang with Clemson for 15-20 minutes but I see a 35 pt loss.

I drank too much kool-aid thinking 9-10 wins and maybe more. DeVito actually threw the ball well on Saturday so if Babers can work some magic maybe they can string some wins after Clemson

Right now... UNC. They have played the toughest schedule (so far, other than Clemson). They haven't dominated. Their wins were not pretty but they were wins.

RE: 2nd best team in the ACC??
Based on what I've seen so far....
1. Clemson - To win NC and Heisman trophy.
2. Virginia - Best UVA team in 20+ years.
3. Boston College - Really!!?!!? the 3rd best team? Who knows? A lack of options for 3-8
4. NC State - 2 blow outs so far. Looking forward to the NCST WVU game this weekend.
5. Wake Forest - Looking great. Definite top 1/2 of the league.
6. Syracuse - Still could be good. I didn't see any of the MD game.
7. Pitt - At least 7 wins.
8. Virginia Tech - Looks bad. Had trouble finishing off ODU. Can probably beat Furman this week. I'm not so sure about any ACC games.
9. Miami - Best 0-2 team in the country.
10. North Carolina - 2 hard fought wins. May be good. Probably not though.
11. Florida State - Looks terrible after 2 weeks. Unconditioned.
12. Louisville - Down here by default. Could still have a successful season.
13. Duke - Unknown so far. Too tough of a Schedule. Probably not bowling this year.
14. Georgia Tech - Rough 1st transition year.

Whoa, there! Starting freshmen get MUCH stronger as their bodies develop. The Hokies will improve by leaps and bounds as the season progresses. JMO though...

We won't know for two more weeks how ALL the ACC teams will stack up against the other conferences' teams.

And we won't know until November how all the ACC teams will stack up against themselves.

But right now my money is on Clemson, followed by Virginia. Clemson may end up being #1, and UVA may make its way into the Top 10.

I am most surprised by UNC. Quite pleased and happy for them.

I think the SEC East is weak. I think the B10 looks strong.

And I think the ACC needs to have someone besides Clemson become a regular Top 10-15 type program.

I saw part of Syracuse-Maryland game. Maryland is very good. They should beat Penn State and Michigan this year. Can ACC do something to make Maryland come back to ACC?

For me, as of right now, there are 3 Tiers ... Clemson is by itself in one. Then two groupings of teams that are real close to each other, and could beat each other on a given day. Miami and Florida State have the talent to jump up this list, if they get their stuff together. And I think they could at any moment.

I put my Cards way down the list right now ... but if they keep improving, they will beat several folks ahead of them on this list. :

1. Clemson

2. Virginia
3. Boston College
4. North Carolina
5. NC State
6. Wake Forest

7. Syracuse
8. Virginia tech
9. Miami
10. Florida State
11. Pitt
12. Duke
13. Louisville
14. Georgia Tech

How many dead bodies is acceptable to build your football team?

No, SU is pretty bad right now on both sides of the ball. SU didnt take care of Liberty like they should have. Then I thought that Liberty must be pretty good since the Orange couldnt score more points. But this week Liberty was beaten pretty good by another G5 team 35-14. On top of that SU was scraped up by Maryland. Maryland may be pretty good, but I dont think they are THAT good. I think SU is THAT bad. Eric Dungey made up for a lot of SU's weaknesses. Maryland exposed them, big time.

One is enough to motivate those who are still alive.

We could trade either Pitt or BC for Maryland.
