Free Talk Friday - 9/6
Happy Friday everyone!

Does anyone here follow the NFL much? This whole offseason has been so entertaining. I'm really interested to see if the Raiders cut Antonio Brown over the weekend. Posting on social media is one thing but threatening your general manager and having to be held back by a teammate is totally another. My opinion is that he has CTE and is not okay. It'd be pretty sad if that is the case.

I'm really excited about the kickoff time tomorrow. It's 9 my time so I'll be able to wake up, make breakfast, find the stream, and pour up a nice tall mimosa. Really hoping for a strong response from the Blazers following a flat first week.

RE: Free Talk Friday - 9/6
Agreed on Antonio Brown I think there's definitely some mental health issues there. First NFL game of the year was underwhelming, but I'm excited NFL football is back. I'll be dove hunting Sunday so I'll probably only get to catch the Patriots-Steelers game that night. I'm anxious to see how our team responds tomorrow but I think they get it done on the road. The kickoff time is perfect, noon my time. Looking forward to getting some gym time in before the game before settling in for a great day of Football. Can't wait to make my first trip to Bham in two weeks for the South Alabama game. What other games does everyone have their eye on this weekend? For me it's Marshall-Boise State, A&M-Clemson, and BYU-Tennessee. People are in meltdown mode up here after the Vols loss last weekend and it's going to be ugly if they start off 0-2 with losses to GA State and BYU.

I think it is very likely that the Vols get beat by BYU. Kind of sucks for us if they have bad year because if we beat them we are one of many, and if they beat us, we have egg on our faces.

I won't watch any games besides ours most likely, unless something interesting is on ESPN+. I will keep track of the scores of the Nevada - Oregon, LSU - Texas, Southern Miss - MSU, and North Texas SMU games.

Still trying to decide if I will make it to a Blazer game this year. I just paid off my credit card and am squeamish about putting another $800 on it to fly out there and eat/drink out every meal. Maybe I'll just save that money and hope that we go to an interesting/logistically convenient game this year. I wish I got more PTO time, it makes it tough when flying back to the east coast usually requires a full day of travel there and then another back.

You'll be in luck if we go to the New Mexico Bowl.

I'm with you. Moving back to California has that advantage. I get up and hit the beach for a sunrise surf, then come home by 8:30, make a hearty breakfast, pitcher of mimosas and turn on the tv to watch good college football!

RE: Free Talk Friday - 9/6
I hope everyone close to the city goes. It is a great event. Stop by the Literacy Council building on 1st and 23rd and buy some great art from my sister - Melissa Jones (shameless plug).

You can also see all the development going on down there, and hit up some of the best bars in the state (and actually in the country). Caya Coco makes great drinks in a clean Cuban themed space. Queens Park has the best bartender around (literally, as she won the national bartender award).

I hope when the new stadium is built, they will have a shuttle straight down 23rd st from the stadium to the Loft/Entertainment district (they probably will as that is where the largest parking lot in the city is).

Five-ish hour drive to Akron tomorrow for the game. I noticed Akron has a parking lot set aside for visiting team parking/tailgating. I'm looking forward to meeting up with other Blazer fans who can make it to the game. A Blazer win will make the five-ish hour drive home more pleasant!

I've taken minimal amounts of time off since I started my current job almost two years ago. I've pretty much decided if we're in a bowl game on the mainland I'm taking a few days off and going. New Mexico would be fun. My top two choices would be Nola or Tampa.

Or Las Vegas Bowl ( if C-USA had the tie-in 03-banghead)

So as far as the Antonio Brown situation goes, I was really hoping that the Raiders suspend him but because the Drama Queen himself gave a supposedly heartfelt and emotionally charged apology all seems to be forgiven now.

I'm not sure if I had any respect for Gruden but I now know for sure that I don't have any respect for him. He apparently won out over the GM because of course the name of the game is "Just Win Baby"! I'm just at a lost for words for the road the NFL has gone down the last few years.

So Devlin Hodges from Samford / Mortimer Jordan who set the all time FCS record for passing was cut by the Steelers in the final cut.

He broke Steve McNair's passing record.

Looks like he may give it a try in the XFL.

Hodges originally committed to Southern Miss but saw the cluster that it was and ended up committing to Samford.
