Hawaii has 8 home games this year.
If they had a decent HC (maybe they do, IDK) they’d be 13-0 with victories over 2 P5, Army and Boise.
And in the Cotton Bowl

Hawaii has a good coach now.

If Cincy beats the Suckeyes and doesn’t screw up, it is theirs.

Interesting combo you have there. Include Tulane, but not others. Hmmm, maybe Tulane has a lot more potential than I thought? Always figured going into Week 2 would be overflowed. :)

But since you have GA-State & Tulane in there, I'll add some more:

Houston vs PVAM
Southern Miss @ Miss State
Ohio @ Pitt
UAB @ Akron
San Diego State @ UCLA
Fresno State vs Minnesota
WMU @ Michigan State
NIU @ Utah
Navy vs ECU

Hawaii is playing three P5s; in addition to Arizona and Oregon State at home we have Washington on the road which will be a huge challenge. Playing Boise State on the road will be another. So, yes we have a decent HC now (Nick Rolovich) but Hawaii fans are thinking the best we can hope for is 11-2.

Tulane is going to lose a minimum of four games, but 9-4 would still be reason enough for them to celebrate. We aren’t getting through Mississippi State, Troy, and Alabama back to back to back and all on the road unscathed either.

Since Tulane has won 9 games or more one time in the past 40 years, I would say that would be cause for significant celebration around Audubon Park.

Yeah after OOC we’ll have a much clearer picture, a lot of big wins for the taking

WTF? If UC somehow pulls it out against Top 5 ranked Ohio State on the road (after beating UCLA) and then runs the table I find it hard to believe the pollsters would put in anyone else over them in the access spot.

The only other school who I could see over them would be an undefeated Boise State, but in a hypothetical that both schools run the table Cincinnati's schedule would elevate them over Boise in the polls (with wins over UCLA, Ohio State, Marshall, UCF, USF, Houston and Memphis- one of the later two twice).

My bad. I forgot about the @Washington game. Monster schedule coming up with them and @Boise plus Fresno, San Diego St and Army still to play. You guys should beat the crap out of Oregon St on Saturday. Is that going be on CBS-SN? I didn’t see it listed on tv. ESPN maybe?

Boise State, Cincinnati, UCF, Houston, and Hawaii

Those are the main contenders this year

...and I'm not sold on UCF yet. Let them play some FBS football first

Dont really think Houston is in contention this year. I'm kinda liking Wyoming after their win against Mizzou.

RE: Race for the NY6 Week 2
I see a four team race - based on likelihood to go undefeated.
1- Boise State
2- UCF
3- Memphis
4- Appalachian State

The rest
5- Cincinnati
6- Nevada
7- North Texas
8- Troy
9- Marshall
10- Ohio

Any undefeated G5 team is in it. Most 1-loss teams are hanging on a thread and could be out of it if they get a second loss.

These rankings that have 5 AAC teams and 5 MW teams are garbage because the winner has to be a Conference Champion. Basically, all Conference Champions are automatically ranked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and then 6 through whatever is the rest.

I'll say this:

1. If UCLA isn't any better this year than last year that win probably will not mean much. I would say the same for Boise's win against FSU with the difference being it was a road win for the Broncos.

2. Beating Ohio St would be huge but then you're going to need the Buckeyes to win out. I'll say what others may think about UC beating OSU, "it probably means the Buckeyes are going to struggle in the Big Ten this year". Great win for UC if they pull it out though.

3. You're also going to need UCF win all of their games (except against UC) because they would have wins over Stanford and Pitt.

4. I don't see an undefeated Boise being a problem unless some of the MWC schools get ranked.

This is why a say "Not Necessarily" to the beat OSU and win out and we're in the NY6 Bowl Game. Just my opinion.....

An undefeated Cincy is a LOCK for NY6 and it’s not close. Feels like arguing just to argue.

No just voicing my opinion that it's not that simple. I don't like arguing and it's not like we're going to ever find out if this would have been the case.
