If your QB keeps throwing his deep ball sky high, and the WRs have to stop and wait for it to come down, he won't last all season. Do you guys have a QB coach?

I asked the same question (I only make one home game a year) and apparently it stopped working after KO. Concessions were a nightmare all over the stadium. Hopefully they work out the kinks quickly.

Whats telling to me is that just like last year, Coach Hop is playing Daddy Ball with Abraham at QB, bc there are better QBs on the sideline. Tate has a much stronger arm and opens the playbook up bc of that, in addition to being able to run.

You may be correct Reggie, but I from what I saw last season, I actually thought Tate had a worse arm than Jack, and it wasn't close. Tate has supposedly increased his arm strength a good bit and I thought Jack's arm looked a bit better than last season.

I guess neither of you saw the receiver catch the ball and score easily...right?

Yes, after receiver stopped and DB ran into him and fell down.

No the receiver did not stop. He did slow down because the dB was holding him. The receiver was a good 6 inches taller that the dB. It was right in front of me.

It was a good throw, the DB and WR's feet just got tangled up and the DB lost his footing.

From my recollection, last. Who does he throw harder than?

Several Bower QBs, good and bad. Most of Carmody's in between Reggie and Brett. He strikes me as somewhat similar to Austin Davis or Lee Roberts in arm strength. Sufficient.

The DB was laying on the turf before the receiver caught the ball. Receiver could have been 24" tall and would have still had a height advantage on DB.

Anyway, it was a good read by Abraham that there wasn't any safety help.

Exactly my point, great read by Abraham to throw to a much taller receiver in a one on one situation.

When you've got ZERO run game the defense pins their ears back. We've GOT to establish a run game if we're going to beat Mississippi State. They say the biggest improvement is between week 1 and week 2...I'm curious to see what gameplan they come up w/ this week for our run game vs. MSU. Someone is going to have to step up between Baker, Kempf, and Perkins.

And BTW, #48 TE is god aweful and can't pick up blitz or run-block worth a DAMN. Get his ass outta there.

The backs I saw Saturday, I'd rank this way:
1. Kempf - didn't get to see enough of him, but I liked what I saw when he was in.
2. Baker - kid is rally fast and I think is going to be a good back. But, he got knocked around pretty easily and I think he needs to bulk up a little and learn how to avoid the big hits.
3. Perkins - he is only here because I want Anderson last.
4. Anderson - there is a reason RBs don't weigh as much as he does, they can't accelerate fast enough. He would be 'okay' if we had an O-line that just blew up the D-line, but we don't. We need a smaller, shifty back with great vision who makes something out of nothing. That has been the USM way. Fletcher... Ito...

Regardless if the DB fell down, that's man to man coverage. You make that throw all day. WR Neil McLaurin is 6'2 204. The DB is only 5'11.

He did throw it about 50 yards down field though. Not bad. From my viewpoint his arm is a little weaker than Mullins or Davis. But that is not the problem. He doesn’t make the decision fast enough and doesn’t get the ball downfield fast enough. He throws that TD pass .5 seconds faster and it’s a beautiful thing.

Unbiased opinion. The ball was underthrown. If the defender had stayed on his feet he would have been in position to make the interception.

You know, lol, I was hearing all these same things about Nick Mullens when he played at Southern Miss. Now he is being used as an example of what a quarterback should look like. If Abraham doesn’t have seven passes dropped he would have been 25 of 28 Saturday. The interception pass was badly thrown by Abraham.

Yep. Second string QB is always the most popular guy on campus. But I think they've already moved past Whatley and see Johnson as the savior.

I think we can win this conference with Abraham as long has he gets a little help out of the O-line/RB positions. I agree that if Johnson is as good as expected, Whatley will be a career backup.

Who knows, Johnson could be the backup and Whatley 3rd string...
