The Wall Street Journal released their semi-annual College Football Grid of Shame.

They rated "each of the 64 schools in the five major conferences, plus a handful of other relevant programs." They 7 "other relevant programs" are UCF, Boise, Cincinnati, Army, BYU, SMU, and Notre Dame.

Bottom two morally includes OSU and holier than thou Dantonio. Love it.

Hmm... UCLA is on the powerhouse side of the graph and UC is a comparative weakling. Flying under the radar and surprising folks is so much fun. Interesting also that Louisville, though rated as a weakling, occupies a spot above neutral on the shame axis. Pity the schools whose morality rates below that of Louisville.

The morality score depended on a lot of things:

"Shame is quantified using a weighted calculation of several football-related factors: academic performance, recent NCAA violations and probation, attendance figures, athletic-department subsidies and arrests of players and coaches.

There are some offenses so outside the lines, however, that they can’t quite be captured by numbers alone. That’s where the “ick factor” comes into play. Any school involved in a scandal, regardless of whether it happened during the last calendar year or directly implicated the university’s football program, takes a hit."

How is The "U" above the shame line? I'd put them down by O$U.

How is Notre Dame above the neutral line on morality??? They’ve had all kinds of dumb scandals and they killed a kid!

Are you referring to former Notre Dame player Cierre Wood killing a 5 year old this summer? He graduated in 2012.

Or are you referring to the video coordinator who died when a hydraulic lift blew over in high winds? That happened in 2011.

Hmmm, visually there appears to be a correlation between low morals and winning, though only for certain programs.

I think being projected behind UCLA was an insult. We beat them at their own place, last year, and have the nucleus of that team returning.

I am tired of being "under the radar". UC has earned its keep

Well in basketball, UC's so-called "Huggs Thugs" as been ousted, well over a decade. To this day, many still give us grief over it. So, cannot bring myself to have sympathy for the others.

BTW, the so-called "Huggs Thugs" never resulted in any deaths.

B.S. The team power rating is based on the pre-season poll, which especially this year is garbage. Bearcats were ranked what - 34th in the country?
No Way! The arrow to Alabama is the most powerful pre-season ranking.
The arrow towards Oregon State is the weakest team in pre-season ratings. The arrow pointing toward Tennessee is for shamefulness,
whatever that is.
But our Bearcats at the top are admirable.

I think the Red M is for Maryland.

This is interesting. A person in the Athletic dept told me there is a belief that the next re-alignment will be to get to a Power 64. Hopefully, the WSJ is onto something.
