Of course they would. They just lost to us. Houston and UCF would probably beat them too.

Quote:All I know is, if we'd have lost that game to the land sharks (little brother), it would have been an upset the magnitude of Georgia States win over utk. Ole miss is just another bottom of the barrel $EC school living off that fat $ec welfare check.

It would not be anywhere near the level of upset.

Sorry, forgot to hit the sarcasm button.

if we had lost to Ole Miss, their fans would have crowed "we beat you with our worst team in 50 years' or something along those lines.
Yeah, it would have been embarrassing and hurt.
Our perceived progress and recognition we've fought for since the last days of Fuente would take a hit.

Ole Miss will be the 2nd or 3rd best team. Maybe Cinci and UH.

Just be honest.

They will be the most "talented" team Memphis plays.

Their defense held Memphis to 13 offensive points and Memphis hadn't score less than that since @Temple in 2015.

They were starting a new QB and essentially had 5 brand new receivers. And a new OC.

They will improve (to what degree I don't know) but I have a feeling the win will be better looking as the season progresses.

I didnt say most talented team...I said better teams.

While we are talking about talent.......They might have higher rated recruits but the usual size/speed difference against us just wasnt there. The"talent" gap storyline has more to do with the conference patch on their jersey than anything that actually showed up when you put both teams next to each other. Houston is a more "talented" team. Cincy is a much better team without question.

Us scoring only 13 offensive points had more to do with 6 False Start penalties(4 of which were in Ole Miss territory) than anything Ole Miss did.

But by the same token, Memphis only TD was aided by a questionable roughing call and then a facemask call.

Bottom line is OM was a great team to catch the 1st game of the year. Their offense will improve with more familiarity and their defense was sufficient.

Still a great win and Memphis (both eye test and score test) was the better team.

I think Memphis probably would have scored on that last drive if they weren't trying to run out the clock. They were taking it to them pretty good there.

Mississippi played decent defense

But if memory serves we were at or inside their 30-40 yard line four additional times with no points as five yard penalties or poorly executed play (like the missed WR block on the 4th and 1 ack) stalled the drives

Mississippi also missed a FG and a fourth down. Our offense will likely iron out those issues and a similar encounter probably produces 27 points. Still below average but more than 13

I think we were favored by 5ish and UT was favored by 25ish...So yeah just a silly statement.

Agreed...

Memphis was the better team but we should have won by more...

Either Ole Miss is better than anticipated or we are not as good or underperformed. Ole Miss just came off of probation and we should have wiped the floor with them. If this game is in Oxford we likely lose.

If White could complete a pass over 20 yards, Memphis wins this game at least 35-10. The fact that this wasn't at least a 2 TD win for the Tigers gives me pause for the rest of the season.

He did. To Coxie. West sideline. I think there were one or two others as well.

Winner winner chicken dinner! A lot of Ole Miss apologist on the board today. We did everything in our power to give the game away and still pulled away with the victory.

He can do it-if he’s got time to get his mechanics right and time for his rather slow release.

Shhhh. You could be attacked by the Brady White haters for letting out that info.
Remember, Brady can't throw the ball more than 7 yds. with any success.
That's the mantra. Play along.

Sorry. You've got me confused with someone else. I'm of the opinion that Brady will cost us games this season because of his inability to run or move, or recognize WHEN to run. But I'm a straight shooter. He did throw one completion for 22 or whatever. He CAN throw it 30+ yards if he is able to set his feet. People that say otherwise are either blind or have an ax to grind.
But, no, he is less than optimal, and I wouldn't be surprised if Connor Adair would be a better choice.

That’s an odd reference. The D played well, great at times.

Punting was phenomenal. We could have had three downed inside the 3 yard line.
Kickoffs was really on the mark. Coverage was good for both.
Running game against a pretty decent D-front was very solid. OL and QB needs work.

Well, considering Cinci was boatraced 48-0 vs. tOSU and OM just whooped Arky, I'd now guess OM is probably the 2nd best team behind UH.
