Tears did not have a huge impact but glad to see him taking the right approach. His big game is coming soon. The way he was acting I wonder if he lost that one ball on that open play in the lights.

Who was the receiver that missed that catch? That throw was on the money but no doubt it was a tough catch.

Looked like a perfectly thrown ball to me. Tears has shown the ability to make circus catches on occasion but unless he can become more consistent he will never be a "Go To" guy.
I'm guessing he was celebrating early thinking he had a TD and lost focus. It was a great pass and he had a few steps on the defender. I saw it from the stands, so maybe I'm wrong about the accuracy of the pass.

The pass was perfect. Tears has been known to drop the easy ones and make th tough catches. This is why he’s a good receiver and not a great one. Prove me wrong. Usually drops like that kill momentum. And FYI Utah is good at defense. So are we. They suck on offense, and we’re better on offense than we were last year. Remember that if we could complete passes last year we would have won. Utah is overrated and beatable. We have footage and experience playing them. They’re not Bama or even close. Relax you negative Nancy’s.....

Agreed. Our offense will only get better with game reps. We have a QB who looks to be a gun slinger. Something we have not seen in a long long time here. Utah is good but cmon BYU was dominating them on defense in the first half. It took a pick 6 from Utah’s defense to turn the game around.

The Oline wasn't great by any means last year either, it's definitely a concern. Last year, they seemed good on the Run, but really struggled on pass blocking (accentuated by the fact that Childers often held onto it too long).

They have to improve if NIU is going to make some noise these next 3 games.

RE: Bower
This game is all on Eidsness. He will have to out-scheme the physical mismatches. Utah is HUGE up the middle. Running there will be tough. The O-line is not going to get push. The way the o-line played we will need the TEs to stay in and help(or better blocking from the RBs. Maybe more FB play with Bostad? Harbs was getting shoved all around-so much for that weight loss). Removing the TEs from the passing game will severely limit Bowers production. The Utes CBs are very good.

Let’s hope the O-line improves from week 1 to week 2. They had the luxury of trying multiple combinations vs ISU.

ISU was actually a good team to work things out on offense. ISU is really big in the front 7. As big as Utah.

Side note: pretty disappointing that Cox isn’t ready or may not be the next stud left tackle. I know it’s early but it feels a little like Hawn. Still waiting on him in his 4th season. These two were the highest rated tackles ever recruited by NIU.

Isn’t that the point though, to get better every game? I can only see them getting better unless there are major injuries. We dodged some injury bullets in that first game for sure. O-lines often take time to play in sink. Also our running backs have to be better about picking up the blitz as well. Most of ISU’s pressure came from the blitz. Not the D-Line.

Well, the run blocking was no better. Hopefully, the OL takes a huge step quickly.

Yeah, Tears was celebrating his TD before he caught the ball.

Very well put and it is highly likely the reason for the drop.

I guess that also means that he is passionate about wanting to score which is a good thing if he can improve his concentration. However, by now he is what he is and we know what we have in Mr. Tears. ... I guess they cannot all be Shatone Powers.

I bet he will have a monster game Saturday. All Utah eyes will be on Richie. And like him or not but Tears shows up big in big time games. See Nebraska or MAC championship.

I think it bounced off his hands.

Looked like he lost it in the Huskie Stadium lights at the last second. He made a motion on the way back from the play that the lights obstructed his view

Tyriece Richie caught a perfect pass with hands in his face with no problem. No excuses for Tears. Just redeem yourself. The scouts are watching.....

How long until Childers transfers? No way does he stick around after being a starter. The transfers situation is starting to really hit football just look at NIU we have several transfers.

I saw that; was that the lights obstructed my view or that is on me? The latter is what I took it for.

Good question I was thinking the same thing-semester time I would imagine. On one hand I kinda feel for him but hey that’s life in the big show so to speak.

There’s really no need for him to do it until after the year. He should be able to grad transfer and be immediately eligible anywhere

He’s already been a transfer before. Don’t think he want to sit out another year. Also if he goes FCS, he’s not a for sure starter at FCS either. He’s still important to the team if Bowers gets hurt.
