I don’t think UC has good shot this week but they have a chance if the defense creates turnovers. Just would love to pull the upset.

I am just tired of Ohio State’s monopoly of the state of Ohio. Cincinnati is in Ohio, UC is a state school, and I am proud of both those things. You can love living in Ohio and still dislike Ohio State football. Most states have multiple schools that represent the state or major regions of a large state. UC is Ohio’s school that represents thr city of Cincinnati all the way to the southwestern Ohio suburbs. This is our Ohio.

Opening line Ohio State -16.5

UC will win.....because I will not be at the game. I've never missed a UC game against the Sucknuts. But this year, those people that sign my check have determined I need to be in Atlanta standing in front of a booth at a trade show. Won't even be able to watch the entire game live on TV.

Evil check signers....they all live in Los Angeles. Probably still pissed off from us clocking the Bruins twice.

So rest easy when things look bleak in the Horseshoe. Be 100% confident that the Cats will come out victorious because Ragpicker is not in attendance.

At the end of the first quarter it was O$U 28, FAU 0. In quarters 2-4 it was FAU 21, O$U 17.

Don't tell me about garbage time because O$U played their starters into the 4th quarter.

So if UC doesn't come out and crap down their leg in the first quarter like FAU did, they can hang in this game.

UC is also set up better than FAU because we can run the ball. If we can control the ball and keep Georgia's 2nd string QB and his lot of future NFL'ers around him off the field for a good portion of the game, there's our opportunity.

Lane Kiffin is an offensive guy. Fick is a defensive guy. I think he'll have something brewing for them.

And believe you me, O$U has NO respect for us. NONE. If we come out and hang with them, they'll be the ones crapping themselves in the 4th quarter.

There's a different mindset, attitude, and effort when you're up 28-0 in the 1st quarter vs 0-0 at the beginning of the game.

OSU fans have no respect for us, the players will likely be a different story.

My guess is we are going to get OSU’s best shot. This game is a big one in the early tenure of the Ryan Day era. Lose this one or even if the Bearcats get close there will be people across the state wondering if his hiring was a mistake.

Well, what can we say? This one has so many interesting subplots surrounding it. Fickell spent nearly two full decades of his life as a player or coach at Ohio State. But for the next six days his primary mission in life will be to come up with a plan to topple his alma mater. Just imagine what that would mean to him and his coaching career. Schools like Tennessee and Florida State are probably already out there looking for replacements for their current coaches.

It is believed he will be the first former Ohio State coach to lead a team against the Buckeyes.

For Cincinnati’s players, this could be their Super Bowl. It’s unlikely any of them were given an Ohio State scholarship offer, although many of them are products of Ohio and the surrounding states. They would all like to prove their worth by going into the Horseshoe and knocking off their Big Brother in the Buckeyes.

Cincinnati will not be in awe of its surroundings. The Bearcats have those wins over UCLA and Virginia Tech in their memory bank to know they can play with a Power Five opponent. But are they good enough to hang with a top five opponent nationally? Hmmm. Still, I think UC would be a middle-of-the-road Big Ten team. They’re probably already as good or better than Rutgers, Maryland, Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and maybe even Northwestern.

One thing we know after watching that game on Thursday with UCLA is the Bearcats play a physical brand of football. They will hit Ohio State in the mouth and the Buckeyes will need to be ready to respond in kind. In many ways, the physicality will look and feel like a Big Ten game.

Ohio State is 14-2 all-time against Cincinnati. The two losses were in ’96 and ’97 – as in 1896 and 1897. The teams did not play between 1931 and 1999. Since 1999, they have played five times with OSU winning all five by an average margin of 18.2 points. OSU won the last meeting at home in the 2014 season (50-28). The closest call came in a 2002 game at Cincinnati’s Paul Brown Stadium (23-19).

Will this one go down to the wire, too? Hmmm.

Bucknuts and Bearcats - Oh My!

We do have at least half a dozen players who had OSU scholarship offers. Recruiting has changed a lot in the past 10 years. OSU used to be able to make 30 offers & get 20-25 players. Today they have to make 80-100 offers because recruits have a lot more information about the program's depth chart from the internet. They'd rather step in as a 2nd stringer at UC than a redshirt 6th stringer at OSU.


Also: 15 years ago, they never would have said that UC is "as good or better than" 6 Big 10 schools. Progress.

The fact that the writer of the OSU blog opined that UC players didn't have scholarship offers to tOSU is proof of the hubris of Suckeye fans. He didn't even bother to check if UC players had scholarship offers from tOSU he just assumed they didn't (because in his mind if they did they would of course have chosen tOSU and not UC).

IMO, the challenge isn't so much our defense against OSU but our ability to run against a defense that make's UCLA's look like FCS level. This is where we need speed, not just power running to make plays. Ohio State's dee is track meet fast. The key will be how we can move the ball and SCORE points because Ohio State will score. As far as the scoring margin against FAU, Ohio State took the foot off the gas pedal after the 28-0 lead. Trust me, Ohio State is going to want to crush our ass because the last thing they want is a former player and coach to come in and beat them let alone hang close for 4 quarters.
