What is the date for the final 53 roster spots plus practice squads?

Looks like Anthony Rush is getting released too. This is a bit unexpected, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he doesn’t get picked up elsewhere or at least signed to the practice squad.

This is cut day. They have to get it down to 53 today. Not sure about practice squad deadlines.

#Texans reserve QB Joe Webb, who was carted off with a foot injury after completing 65% of his passes, is expected to land on Injured Reserve, source said. In better news, backup QB AJ McCarron is good to go for the season after injuring his thumb early in camp, I’m told.

That sucks for Joe.

Stacy Keely got cut by the Vikings, which means that none of the UAB players from last year’s team made a 53-man roster.

Victor Salako got cut by the Giants, and it looks like Joe Webb is heading to IR, but none of the other veterans have been announced as having been cut. That includes Chris Hubbard, JJ Nelson, Darious Williams, Jordan Howard, Roland Milligan and Gerald Everett. Plus Ty Long made the Chargers.

On a local community note - Hodges from Samford cut by the Steelers.

We should know this afternoon if anyone got claimed to a 53 man roster or placed on a practice squad.

I'm really surprised Rush got cut.

Practice Squad is good and better then nothing that means they can get called up at a notice and still getting a NFL paycheck and the luxurious. And all the givies like a paid for town house fully filled with a ride and food and such. Better then the XFL.

They get a minimum of $8,000 a week with a three week minimum. That’s what they get. Teams can pay them more but it counts against the salary cap. There is a three year maximum. In the immortal words of the great West German expressionist Dieter “your story has become tiresome”. I will ignore you now.

Three other players with Alabama football roots who were waived on Saturday reverted to injured reserve on Sunday when they went unclaimed. Green Bay Packers fullback Malcolm Johnson (Northridge), Giants offensive tackle Victor Salako (Grissom, UAB) and Houston Texans linebacker Xavier Woodson-Luster (Eufaula) had been waived with an injury designation.

Their 2019 seasons are over, unless they are released with an injury settlement. That would give them the opportunity to sign with another team once they've recovered.

· Defensive end Stacy Keely (UAB) with the Minnesota Vikings.
· Defensive tackle Anthony Rush (UAB) with the Oakland Raiders.

The transaction news wasn't as good for Colts safety Rolan Milligan (UAB), who was released on Monday after initially making Indianapolis' 53-player roster.
