That’s the argument, and I’ve dealt with this firsthand in my job. I’ve literally seen a dozen sheriff’s deputies show up to a venue three hours before a performance and give the entire place an hour to get rid of every trace of alcohol on the premises because the sheriff interpreted the law one way and local concert promoters and government interpreted it a different way.

If I’m Ole Miss, I’ve got specifics on paper before the first drop of alcohol ever enters that stadium.

I saw pearl clutching this weekend on social media about how USM is no longer a family venue..

The lady who posted it had pictures of her family decked out in Maroon.. I commented well then don't get season tickets or join the Eagle Club.. She stated she was a State fan (of course I knew).. Then the, I hope nobody has an accident and gets killed on the way home from this..

Hey lady, you act like nobody gets hammered while tailgating.. At least in the stadium if you appear drunk they'll cut you off.

Makes sense... But you mean to tell me there's no alcohol whatsoever in the Grove on game day?

I go to a Cardinals game every year with my dad and there's enough beer sold in one game to probably outrevenue our football team. Haven't had any unruly fans or accidents in my experiences. People just want something to look down on a school about (while they aren't even a fan to begin with).

I’ve been in the Grove on game day. There’s plenty of alcohol there. The difference is that people are buying it elsewhere and bringing it in. It isn’t much of a practical difference, but from a liability standpoint, the university gets to wash their hands and say they aren’t responsible for what private individuals do. The irony of your comments about the Mississippi State lady is that I’ve been in Davis wade during a game where the people around me were passing out drunk off the hard liquor they’d smuggled in. She gets to grandstand because her university doesn’t endorse it. The only real difference other than liability claims is who gets the profits from selling it. I’d much rather it be the athletic department making that money than, say, the Pheba juke joint.

I’ve been to venues with Christian acts that have strict no alcohol policies at their shows. Other acts generate more income in the same venue with 3000 fewer people in attendance just off the difference in alcohol sales.

RE: beer sales at the rock
this post isn't so much about beer sales but saw where USM came up with another great idea (to along with the beer sales) in that you can now order food and have it sent to where you're sitting so you don't have to go wait in line at the concessions. This administration is coming up with some great ideas that have been sorely missing from previous. The only issue I see with this is it's app based and we all know how hard it can be to get cell service inside the stadium once you put 20k+ people there.

RE: beer sales at the rock
When the Golden Eagles open the season Saturday, Aug. 31, fans will be able to order food from their seats and have it delivered to them through sEATz, a mobile ordering and delivery app.

Fans will need to download the app through the Apple App Store or via Google Play. After an easy account setup, Golden Eagle fans will be able to order from their seats and not miss any of the action on game day.

Here's how you do it:

1. Download sEATz today.

2. Select "The Rock" as your venue.

3. Type in your seat location.

4. Order your favorite food and drinks.

5. Enjoy the game while the sEATz team brings your order to you.

6. Repeat.

You can follow sEATz on twitter at @myseatsapp. Southern Miss fans can also partake in several other innovations for their 2019 gameday experience, such as affordable concession prices and more.

Exactly..

If USM is successful, the other two will follow suit and of course theirs will always be better if you ask them.

Has anybody heard any scoop on what beers will be sold and at what prices?
I'm assuming we'll get something like 16oz aluminum bottles of domestic lights (bud, miller, coors) in the $8-10 range.

Stokes distributing. So we will get something on their menu.

With all the aluminum cans that will be laying around we need to let a couple of locals come in to help clean up. I’m sure the ‘scooter guy’ will be glad to help for free.....

$8 would be a gouge, and an excellent way to screw this up.

And here I was just thinking how $8 would be on par for a sporting event or venue

LSU is selling OH for the first time this year as well - $8 for domestic beer / $9 for premium beer (both 16 oz.)

I think $6 / $8 would be fine. I'm sure USM fans aren't as willing to pay as much as LSU fans are for beer. Also, $6 isn't so low as to ensure everyone gets too tanked, yet it can still generate plenty of revenue. I think $5 or less is too low and folks may drink too much.

Lsu will pour them and serve in a cup. Usm will be able to serve drinks faster by handing out alum bottles. Havent heard about any delivery service at Lsu. Tip of the hat to Usm / Jeremy on both counts.

Miller, Coors, and imports plus some craft beers.

That's actually a pretty average price for 16oz beers at sporting events, concerts, etc.
