Sun Belt vs Non-Conference (2019 edition)
It's game week so it's time for my annual Sun Belt vs Non-Conference thread. Last year the Sun Belt had one of our best season's ever facing non conference foes and I'm hoping for a repeat! I'll update as the season progresses.

I think USA beats UAB, UL beats Ohio, and App beats UNC. Other than that, looks about right.

Espn match up predictor has UNC with a 60.1% chance of winning.

ESPN has UNC beating APP. If you still had Satt, It'd be a blowout. New coaching staff in game one is a wildcard. UNC has a new staff too, but in the case of two new staffs, you'd think overall talent wins out. Massey has APP as a 65% favorite, though.

Troy-Mizzou 0.057
ULM-FSU 0.048
GS-LSU 0.033
State-Tennessee 0.029

Ark State-UGA 0.022

So while we're underdogs in every game per ESPN, the P5 game is actually fairly favorable. Going by these win probabilities we have a 40% chance of getting multiple P5 wins and and 80% chance of getting one and making it 4 straight seasons with a P5 win.

All in all thanks to GSU's upset of Tennessee Week 1 was not too bad but we did loose a couple the talking heads said we should win. 4-6 overall OOC for the Belt in week one!

I think it will be Iowa State... those guys barely beat FCS Northern Iowa in 3OT. Caleb Evans will do work.

I think it will be Iowa State... those guys barely beat FCS Northern Iowa in 3OT. Caleb Evans will do work.


Evans has really upped his game this year. I agree. Having Memphis at home doesn’t hurt either. Beat Iowa St. after taking FSU to OT and we will have a Baylor 2012 type crowd.
