I still can't believe a huge percentage of Florida won't be able to see some FSU and Miami games via Comcast (THE network in Florida). This is a huge kick in the tenders for exposure in the biggest football state in this conference.

My question is what have FSU and Miami fans done to make sure they have the ACC Network. If no one is requesting it in FL, why would Comcast do anything?

We're 10 days out from the FSU game. Out of all the fan bases, I'm guessing the FSU and Miami fans are the least worried about missing the opening night ode to Coach K. I think FSU fans will do what they need to before their game, but Comcast will either care or they won't.

RE: ACC Network
Actually, FSU is 17 days out from their first appearance on the ACC Network. That's still a "lot of time" for FSU fans.

I'm sure it was also smart of the ACC Network to pretty much snub FSU in as many of the promos as possible.

When I looked at channel 388 last night, I did not see a colorful ACC graphics display. What I saw was a black and white screen saying that if I wanted ACCN that I had to call Spectrum. When I called Spectrum, it took the clueless operator, who had never heard of ACCN, about a half hour to figure out what the problems was. It turned out that I had a "legacy TWC" plan and their system doesn't allow the addition of channels to a legacy plan. I had to switch to a Spectrum plan. When I asked how much more it would cost, there was a delay of a few minutes before I was told it would cost about $20 a month less. I made the switch and the black and white screen turned into the colorful ACC graphics. I've since read online accounts from other people who have had a similar experience with Spectrum. If Spectrum doesn't figure out a way to automatically add ACCN for customers with legacy plans, their operators will be deluged over the next few weeks.

I recently learned that I also have a "legacy TWC" plan. I have no idea whether I now have ACCN, and don't really care if I do as long as I don't have to pay extra for it. What plan did you have with TWC, and what plan did you switch to with Spectrum to get the ACCN? I can't figure out whether I would save or lose money by switching. The channel guides I was given for the various plans available didn't list ACCN at all, so I can't tell which packages include it. I could tell that I would probably lose CBSSN (channel 315) and the Golf Channel (51) if I switched.

I was quoted a price for that plan, but I don't know how much it would be once all the extras are tacked on so I could compare it with what I am now paying.

ACC announced an hour ago that ACC Network will be channel 612 on DirecTV.

ACC Network is now up on YouTube TV. Just a bunch of promos, but still kinda cool to see it finally here. ;-)

I can attest that the main FSU board has been discussing this topic for months if not years. They care.

Many have already contacted providers, sent tweets, and some have already reported they have switched (myself included).

At the end of the day Comcast is betting that they can keep more customers than they lose through either a rate increase or lost profits by eating the rate increase. The main issue is its one channel now... when they are threatened with losing all their sports and Disney (no one wants to explain to the kids why the Disney channels disappeared) the equation changes greatly.

I seriously doubt that comcast is not signing because FSU & miami's fan base is less passionate than others in the league where deals closed.

I also don't feel this is over. When Fall sports are in full swing and people realize that all that content that use to be available on Watch ESPN is now labeled slightly different and no longer accessible... additional choices will be made.

Another thing I have been able to tell by reading about this for months is how confused everyone seems to be by what this channel actually is and means. All that access that we had suddenly going behind the wall will generate calls to Comcast, but you have to know its gone first.

On YoutubeTV it will be located between SEC Network and ESPNU on the channel guide. That was a logical placement

That's a good point. I can only imagine the amount of people that won't even be aware of this until they tune in for their team's first game on the ACCN.

Again, all due sympathies to folks with Comcast and Dish, but I'd rather the ACC hold out 2-3 years to get a lucrative rate than cave on the price. The fact that Youtube and Hulu and Vue and DirectTV have it available means anyone can have it if they want it.

Much different world than it used to be where you'd really be locked out. So I don't see any reason for ESPN/ACC to concede if it costs them money. It's not like the PAC, because you know it will get added with the new Disney contract, so I'm fine if they hold out if that's what it takes.

Well, they could have did an all access to Clemson football since they are the only football program that is making major noise. And then, they pivot to a game show in the vein of Jeopardy. All the answers can be in the from of question regarding the upcoming football season. For instance, "What is the possibility that NC will win more than 4 games". Or, FSU for a $1000... "What is can FSU get back to being FSU". Or, U of L for $600..... "How bad a shape did Petrino leave UofL football program". State for $200...."The weakest schedule to date".

It really isn't that hard to understand that there isn't a ton of great football news in the ACC right now. There are a ton of questions that need to be answered.

I can’t access anything on ACCN Extra now. I get a message saying they’re working on the problem. I wonder if this is just a Spectrum problem. Is it working if you have a different carrier?

I think it might even be a WatchESPN issue.
