RE: ACC Network
Twitter rumor that someone with Direct TV Now was told they'd have the network tomorrow. They posted the chat log which looked to be a pretty decisive assurance, but that doesn't mean the chat rep was correct of course. Would think you'd hear by today if true, not just have it show up unannounced.

RE: ACC Network
Scanning Twitter. Found another carrier that said they are not adding it due to unreasonable rates. I have no idea what Hotwire is or how big it is.

https://twitter.com/gethotwire/status/11...01217?s=20

I'm noticing the responses from Comcast and Dish getting a lot softer, lots of "hope to be carrying it", "still in negotiations", "understand your excitement".

I will say the Twitter pleas/threats from folks is definitely amped up today, wonder if that is affecting the responses, which seem to be getting less canned.

Also, there's still a lot more people threatening to quit than saying they've quit.

It's going to be interesting...it occurred to me that this is the first one of these to go down in such a robust streaming environment. That's a real game changer, because of how easy it is to switch, and how last minute it can be. As recently as the SEC Network, cancellations would have to come in weeks before launch to have your satellite installation in place. Now, people can wait until tomorrow afternoon to see if it shows up, and if not be watching Youtube TV at 7pm.

I'm sure nobody knows what to expect, you've never had a situation like this before.

Carriers know they have to the last minute now with people waiting, but if they do they could have people literally cancelling in droves in a 24 hour period like never before. Quite a game of chicken. Be interested to see what kind of analytic indicators they have trying to predict the impact of not carrying it, and how well they hold up.

RE: ACC Network
Comcast response from May:

We're always evaluating the networks and channel lineups we provide to our customers, and we appreciate the feedback regarding the ACC Network. -Chris

Comcast response from today:

Thank you for reaching out to the Twitter team today. I have my fingers crossed too! I will make sure to pass along your feedback concerning the ACC Network. I need to watch my Hurricanes this year. -ZC

Obviously, that's just cherry picked...but that last one kind of cracked me up.

Yeah, this is the way the tone has been shifting on responses the last day or two...a little more "hang with us a little longer, we're working on it".

Nothing's done before it's done, but it does seems like they're trying to get people to hold on a little longer and letting them know it's being worked on, instead of saying it's not happening.

I do find the reply encouraging.

I've also noticed a lack of recent tweets from the conference and individual schools encouraging fans to switch providers if their provider hasn't already gotten on the ACCN bus. I hope that means they're trying to avoid upsetting providers whom they expect to sign in the near future.

I was told that about a month ago too. It seemed like they knew it would happen and I got the same response about the email. I'm still waiting though. I am on a $70 tier that includes the SEC Network, Big Ten, etc... I wouldn't think it would be that hard for them to add it to an existing tier where they just jacked up the price.

Edit: I tried again. Here is the response.

Madison:I see that DIRECTV NOW is in a process of agreement with ACC Network. Once it get done it will be added to your channel lineup.

As I promised, I canceled SlingTV today. When I spoke to the CSR he was surprised to see that ACCN+ had also been removed from their lineup. I think Dish and Sling are lost causes. On to Hulu for me.

I'm shocked the ACC didn't add a win or two the last 72 hours before the 8/22 start of the ACCN.

I still can't believe a huge percentage of Florida won't be able to see some FSU and Miami games via Comcast (THE network in Florida). This is a huge kick in the tenders for exposure in the biggest football state in this conference.

RE: ACC Network
Watch out if you are a former Time Warner Cable customer (TWC). I am a Spectrum customer who used to be a TWC customer before Spectrum bought out TWC. When I looked at channel 388 last night, I did not see a colorful ACC graphics display. What I saw was a black and white screen saying that if I wanted ACCN that I had to call Spectrum. When I called Spectrum, it took the clueless operator, who had never heard of ACCN, about a half hour to figure out what the problems was. It turned out that I had a "legacy TWC" plan and their system doesn't allow the addition of channels to a legacy plan. I had to switch to a Spectrum plan. When I asked how much more it would cost, there was a delay of a few minutes before I was told it would cost about $20 a month less. I made the switch and the black and white screen turned into the colorful ACC graphics. I've since read online accounts from other people who have had a similar experience with Spectrum. If Spectrum doesn't figure out a way to automatically add ACCN for customers with legacy plans, their operators will be deluged over the next few weeks.

The Spectrum plan eliminates all of the taxes and fees which is why it is cheaper.
