I see what you did there...and that is funny.
What is not funny is that someone like Condoleezza Rice is actually considered a subject matter expert counted on to decide who makes the playoffs.
Nothing against, Rice...she has been a great public servant over the last 25 years, but she is not any more qualified to be involved with the playoffs than anyone on this board. Being a 'fan' doesn't make you an 'expert'. College football really needs to fix this, so that pre-season polls and 'fans' don't decide who has a chance to play for a championship.

RE: UCF #17 in AP Poll
If the AAC has a good September, we can potentially have 4 teams entering conference play ranked.
UCF, UC, Memphis, USF, Temple, Houston could all be in the mix.

RE: UCF #17 in AP Poll
UCF deserves to be ranked 11th imo. Just about everyone else who finished Top 10 is just default gifted around the same spot they ended up the season before.
That said.....if y’all beat Stanford and then us in Pittsburgh? You’ll be Top 10 and hyped up going into conference play anyway.
AAC has several teams I think are gonna be loud this year.

UC and Memphis also receiving votes.

Oh, and Nebraska in at #24
I am not sure if UCF is deserving due to all the changes and losses they have had on offense and defense the last two years. That is why pre-season polls suck.
With that said, this is not to bash UCF. They are just of deserving of getting the benefit of the doubt that P5 schools get all the time. It also is a nice tip of the hat to the AAC. I would have argued for Top 12 using that argument.
For UCF, their season's outlook is simple: will they get consistent QB play?
The fact that a starter hasn't been named yet, i.e. the ND transfer concerns a lot of UCF fans I know.
AAC is really wide open this year ...and the East is going to be a bear, again.
Oh, very surprising to find that you think UCF should be ranked lower*
Not very surprising for you to dwell on this...and overlook the other positive comments about UCF.
The reality is that UCF has a LOT of questions at QB. For an offense that is predicated on efficient QB play and that nobody has emerged to take the job so far...that is a huge question mark.
I don't expect UCF fans to not be biased....but at least acknowledge that this is a legitimate concern. It is not that hard...

Love the bulletin board material AP voters, keep feeding them through Week 2
Cincy, Memphis, and Houston (left-off) all screwed by these rankings. Temple should be receiving votes too.

It's only a "huge question mark" to people like you who aren't following the process. The fact is that Wimbush will be the starter next week but we have a freshman phenom in Dillon Gabriel who is pushing him and absolutely will be the future of UCF football for the next 4-5 years. This is a kid that UGA and USC went hard for at the end and UCF ended up with thanks to the Milton connection. He's miles ahead of where Milton was as a freshman.
We scored 38 with Mack against USF last year without even really attempting to throw the ball. Wimbush and Gabriel are both already much better QBs than Mack.
We'll be fine.

Better chance of UCONN going 6-6 than Cincy ever leaving the AAC. #ForeverHome

I think the QB question is the only thing holding a higher rating back at UCF. They may well have been a 12 or higher with a returning QB from last year. Congrats to the Knights for leading the AAC for the last 2 years, but we are all coming' after you.

Which is also why I'm surprised Houston didn't get a single vote. Isn't King projected to be a top 10 QB this year?

Tua could be their QB and they wouldnt be ranked better. Their brick wall in them CFP will always be 10

I fear ever saying anything about UCF because it elicits such a "SO TYPICAL, A USF FAN DOWNPLAYING THE KNIGHTS" response, but they're also replacing a decent chunk of their starting front 7 on defense as well as their entire special teams squad (K, P, LS) as well as some senior leadership on the OL. It's not always a guarantee that you can just reload...

Honestly our front 7 is more talented and deep this year than last. They aren't as experienced, but we have 2 freshman that were All-Americans, 2 other ESPN 4 stars, and a bunch of transfers that have impressed. The only LB we lose is Pat Jasinski, who was awesome in run support, but AWFUL in pass coverage. In our game against you guys in 2017, I knew Flowers was going to throw a TD pass to Salomon in the 4th quarter before the play happened because I saw Jasinski guarding him. Special teams I'm legitimately concerned about, as I have no idea how good any of the new guys are.

RE: UCF #17 in AP Poll
The USF fan analysis of UCF so far in this thread is perfectly fair.
Fact is, until we see how Wimbush (or Dillon Gabriel) actually perform, we don't know what we have at QB. Wimbush is supposedly better on deep throws...and Heuple's system is far more about deep throws than short passes...so that could be good.
Our run game should be even better this year than last. Only lose one O-lineman I believe, which is a key to the running game. Plus, Wimbush as a runner gives you that "man advantage" coaches are always talking about.
At the offensive skill positions, I'll put our RB and WR units up against any team in the country...including Bama.
On defense, there is legitimate concern about the D-Line. All the positive pre-season talk is just that. We are deeper (can rotate more guys in to keep everyone more fresh) and more athletic (quicker) but have less bulk, so it remains to be seen how that turns out.
At LB, as was stated, we probably will be at least as good if not better because the new MLB is much more athletic. But Randy Shannon needs to fix our defensive scheme so we don't have MLB's chasing down receivers.
Defensive backfield overall is probably as good as any we have ever had at UCF.

Which sport? The Big East doesn't sponsor football.
