RE: ACC Network
It is too early to claim the ACCN is a success or failure.
It won't be a success until we see revenue in the 75% range of the SECN. I don't care how many sign up. Does the revenue compete? We don't know and won't anytime in the next month (or even 12 months, but can't be longer than 2-3 years).
I do think on success side that ACCN has some good momentum in signups. If Comcast goes....feel MUCH better.
It won't be a failure based on anything we know right now either.
One thing that can be noted on failure side is how many years behind other conferences. That's a fact.
One thing FSU fans can correctly be concerned about is how the PRIMARY network with FSU fans in Florida, Comcast, has not signed up. It isn't over yet, but if ACCN doesn't get Comcast in the biggest rating state and the biggest rating product.....yet, that isn't good no matter how you spin it.

RE: ACC Network
We know that Comcast and Disney are in a 10-year contract that began in 2012. However, I wonder when Comcast's contract for the FX and National Geographic channels is set to expire. We've seen at least one deal out there where Disney was able to get the ACCN added during a renegotiation of those FX and Nat Geo channels.

I like the $25 sweet spot and I would rather add the $5 extra, and have the option to drop it part of the year, than for Sling to head down the road of adding other channels that I don't care about and raising the base rate. YoutubeTV went from like $35 to $50 adding channels I don't care about. Would rather go with Sling Orange + Sports add on for $30 than have them go down that route.
The Sling Orange sports addon is now $10

RE: ACC Network
I spoke to a rep from Sling this afternoon. She told me they were in negotiations with ESPN. They hoped to have the ACCN, but as of now they are not offering it. I informed her that on Aug 21st I become the customer of another service if they don't add it. She told me that they have had a lot of calls for the ACCN.

I told nearly the same thing to the ATT Uverse people a few minutes ago. Extreme incompetence with some of their customer service people.

Thing is, I've been told that UVerse's Disney contract comes up for renewal this year anyway (just maybe not this month).
Comcast is going to be tough to crack this year, but who knows? They may need to see an exodus of FSU fans in Florida before they start taking the ACCN seriously...

ATT is stupid. Sports fans don't like to relearn channels and systems. Uverse will tens of thousands of customers in NC because of State, Carolina, Duke, WF, Clemson and VT and they will not come back once a new system is learned.

My understanding is that ATT’s contract with Disney runs out in September. This gives Disney a ton of leverage so ACCN is almost certain to be on ATT in the next month or so but by 8/22 or 8/29? We’ll see.
BTW, does anybody know the situation with DISH? I think their contract with Disney ran out last month. Apparently, ESPN is still available on DISH but there’s been no announcement about ACCN.

I’m a Dish customer & they aren’t saying much. However I have contacted DirecTV & was told that they are signing “up a lot of people”. In fact they raised their 1st year price by $25 yesterday because of the increased demand. Is it ACCN related? I don’t know but it would be quit a coincidence if not.

RE: ACC Network
I hate to pass along rumors but, hell, it’s a sports message board so here goes. Reportedly, ATT Uverse operators started telling callers on Friday that, even though it’s not been announced yet, that they have come to an agreement to carry ACCN. We’ll see if there’s an announcement tomorrow.
I’ve also seen videos of several ACC football coaches put out Friday urging customers of Comcast to call to ask that Comcast carry ACCN. No other carriers mentioned. I hope that means they expect everyone else to get on board the bus shortly.

I suspect there will be a lot of busy DirectTV techs working this week. With all the cord cutting happening, not really understanding why Comcast would tempt fate.

So 2 days after launch... wonder why it's taking all week if they know it's happening?

I have DirectTV Now. Looks like I won't have the ACC Network from what I understand.

It's my understanding AT&T plans to phase that out anyway, so I'm not surprised. Does it cost anything to switch? How does PS Vue or YouTube TV or Hulu Live compare? I have Spectrum, but if they hadn't reached a contract in time I was planning to go with PS Vue, though lately I've heard good things about YouTube TV.
OTOH, you could get a satellite dish and go with DirecTV itself...

Direct TV was one of the first carriers to sign up.

DirecTV Now is not the same thing.
