No surprise for Mizzou. Anheuser-Busch has major presence and influence in the state.

Missouri has West Virginia visiting .... and thinks that's the right time to debut booze? What could possibly go wrong?

There's a big over and under on battery throwing and the number of fist fights inside the stadium. Should be fun!

Hilarious! Is it ironic though or perhaps intentional? I don't see why you'd antagonize a school like that, but it is strange that Tennessee is starting with the second home game of the season.

Well, even shine has to age a little! And it will be there. Tennessee folk aren't big beer drinkers. They like sippin' whiskey.

If they get BYU too mad, the Vol fans might not get ice cream when they go to the game in Provo in a few years. 07-coffee3

Adding Arkansas...

Quote:Razorback fans who’d like to enjoy an adult beverage while they cheer on the Hogs won’t have to stay home (or purchase a club or box seat) to do so beginning this year.

UA officials announced earlier this month plans to offer beer and wine sales in designated public areas of Razorback stadium beginning with the upcoming 2019 football season.

The decision comes after the Southeastern Conferenced revised a policy that had previously restricted alcohol sales in public areas of athletics venues back in May. Under the revised policy, the SEC granted their member institutions the ability to decide whether or not to sell alcohol in their venues, subject to some restrictions.

“By expanding our established alcoholic beverages program to include the sale of beer and wine in public areas of Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, we are building on an already successful model while furthering the fan experience in a responsible way,” AD Hunter Yurachek said of the new rule. “Working in coordination with campus officials and within established guidelines adopted by the SEC, we will now be able to offer this gameday amenity as an option to fans while working to further educate University of Arkansas students and the general public about safe and responsible consumption.”

The UA will offer beer from Anheuser Busch and CORE Brewing, as well as a limited wine selection throughout the stadium. Additionally, Miller/Coors products will be available in club areas. Domestic drafts will run around $7 inside the stadium, with craft beer and wine priced at around $9. The beer and wine stations will be separated from the regular concession areas.

Alcoholic beverages will be sold and dispensed only at designated stationary locations, and not by vendors in seating areas. ID checks will be required of every person at the point of each sale and alcohol will be dispensed in cups, and a limit of two servings per person will be allowed in each transaction. Sales of alcohol will be halted at the end of the third quarter of the game, UA officials said.

Beer sales among Mississippi’s Big 3:

Oktibbeha County is completely dry (Starkville has a rather weird beer and light wine ordnance, but MSU isn’t in the city limits) and supervisors currently aren’t considering changing the law. That means no alcohol for MSU in the foreseeable future.

Lafayette County is dry, but is supposedly considering making an exception for Ole Miss. Unfortunately, the measure isn’t likely to pass in time for this season.

Forrest County is wet. Southern Miss will begin beer sales on September 28th versus UTEP (the second home game of the season). Beer won’t go on sale for the home opener on August 31st because Aramark needed more time to train employees.

RE: SEC Lifting Ban on Alcohol Sales
Kentucky recently announced that they would not be selling alcohol to the common folk. They know their fan base well. Kentucky fans don’t handle alcohol very well. It’s not unusual to see dozens passed out in the parking lot before games...lol

It actually makes me happy to see them not offer it. I wish Louisville would stop selling alcohol. That will never happen as bourbon goes along with football and basketball here in the city

It is inevitable, I think. I'd be willing to bet good money at least 12 or 13 SEC schools will be selling next year (maybe Mississippi State and UGA being the exceptions)

The sales will happen during the last three home football games of the 2019 season.

Things going swimmingly well at Vandy: 03-drunk

Quote:Vanderbilt didn’t have enough defense to contain Joe Burrow and the LSU offense Saturday. Vanderbilt also didn’t have enough beer at their home stadium for the visiting LSU fans, as Tigers fans reportedly drank Vanderbilt Stadium dry before the end of the second quarter.

That led to an unusual circumstances for Commodores head coach Derek Mason, who had to answer questions Wednesday about the beer situation at his home stadium. Mason was pretty frank saying “This is Nashville. No stadium should run out of beer.”

Apparently beer trucks did arrive with more beverages during the second half and when that happened, the LSU fans gave a standing ovation to the delivery men.

RE: SEC Lifting Ban on Alcohol Sales
Was in Vanderbilt Stadium yesterday, amazed that’s an SEC stadium. Concourses were crowded and there were only 15k actual people. Couldn’t imagine those concourses with LSU, Georgia, etc there! And a good area of the concourses weren’t even shaded in 95 degree heat.

Tip: if you go to a day game at Vandy in 85+ degree heat, sit in the top row in the end zone. That is one of very few shaded seats and it feels like air conditioning.

Another option is to sneak into that parking garage near the scoreboard and watch it from there. Shade, save $, and looked like those folks had a decent view.

RE: SEC Lifting Ban on Alcohol Sales
Quote:Georgia is considering jumping into alcohol sales for the general public in time for the 2020 football season.

Athletic director Greg McGarity expects the sale of beer and wine at athletic events to be a topic at Georgia’s spring athletic board meetings, scheduled for June 3-5.

“If we weren’t interested in perhaps moving forward, we wouldn’t even be going through this exercise,” McGarity said. “Things are trending that way. We certainly don’t want to be behind others, but at the same time, we’ve heard of problems that our fans experienced in Nashville and Knoxville.

“What we don’t want to do is just jump in without a lot of thought and with a good plan that doesn’t affect our current concessions.”

Tennessee and Vanderbilt are among SEC schools that sold alcohol in general seating areas last football season. Other SEC schools that took advantage after league presidents and chancellors lifted its ban last spring on alcohol sales to the general public include Arkansas, LSU, Missouri and Texas A&M.

South Carolina and Florida joined in this basketball season.

Good find.

At this point UGA, UK, Alabama, Auburn, and Mississippi State are the only five that haven't started sales at athletic events.
