Creed II / BR
--FINALLY got this on sale. A solid entry in the Rocky/Creed series. The thing that grabbed me about this movie is I was as wrapped up in the Rocky/Adonis story as Ivan and Viktor Drago's. I honestly do think the deleted scene with the post final match conversations between parties was in the movie--it would help it a lot.

Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of GW / BR

Rocky is quite possibly my all time favorite film series and I'm loving the Creed spin off.. I think I saw something where Stallone stated his run as Rocky is almost over.

To me that's what made the movies.. In Creed he's not there much but when he's there he's offering the fatherly advice that Apollo couldn't give him. In some small part Rock feels responsible for Apollo's demise.

My favorite line out of Creed II: "He dangerous! His father broke things in me that can't be fixed."

Rocky is Micky. If you recall from the first Rocky movie, Micky initially kicked Rocky out of his gym because he was a "bum". After he signed the fight with Apollo, he asked Rocky to manage him because he was concerned the promoter was setting him up. He told the story how he did not have good management and as a result he sustained permanent injuries in the ring. He wanted to look after Rocky so that he it did not happen to him. Mickey became the father Rocky never had.

It would make sense in the next Creed movie for Adonis to have the same story arc that Rocky had in RIII following Mickey's death.

Maybe.. But Rock never left Mickey after the first Apollo fight.. Rock never left Mickey when he advised against fighting Clubber Lang.. He stuck with Mick..

Adonis didn't like Rock's advice about Drago and left him.. Rock came back..

Deadwood Seasons 1-2, working on Season 3. (Amazon Prime).. Besides being extremely liberal with the use of the "f" word, saying p*ssy and c*nt a ton, it's not a bad show. Most of the characters are based on real historical figures.

Big fan of the series. I'm watching the movie in pieces - not as compelling.

The finale was kinda eh.. It deserved another season.. I mean Bullock's last words to Hearst felt empty.. He even said it, I did nothing.

I can get HBO free for 7 days and can watch the movie.

Went ahead and got the 7 day free trial from HBO.

Deadwood Season 3- It was a big build up to nothing.. But such as life.

Deadwood: The Movie- It had it's moments, but again it could've went for another hour or another needs to be made.

Vice Principals Season 2- I watched the first season some time ago and never got to see the 2nd season.. Had it's moments but overall wasn't the typical goofy Danny McBride I'm used to seeing and enjoyed it.

RE: The movie thread
Been enjoying the last few days of free movies on HBO.

Won't You Be My Neighbor- Nice documentary of one of my favorite shows/people as a kid. You got anything bad to say about Mister Rogers, you can meet me outside.

Date Night- Oldie but goodie. I forget the amount of stars in this movie, but it's not bad, it's not great, but I found myself sucked in.

A Star is Born- My wife wanted to watch it because in her words "Bradley Cooper isn't bad to look at.".. Past that it's not a bad movie, it's good. Lady Gaga is extremely talented, and guys there is a brief scene with her nude.. Without the glitz and glamour, she's not bad on the eyes either.

Conspiracy Theory- Never saw this, but quite enjoyed it. Mel Gibson plays the part of a conspiracy theorist to the T.

Bohemian Rhapsody - I just watched this last night, and my word, great movie.

Transformers: The Movie / BR
--Found a G1 remake of Soundwave at WalMart the other day so I went home and rewatched that movie. I still love it for what it was but killing Optimus Prime they way they did still doesn't sit well with me.

The Fast and the Furious
Too Fast too Furious
The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift
Fast and Furious
Fast Five
Fast and Furious 6 / BR
--My faves are 1,2,3, and 4.
--From 5 was pretty solid with the full cast of characters getting back together.
--6 and 7 started putting this thing into utter ridiculousness.

Hobbs & Shaw / theater
--So, if you want that buddy action comedy badassness from beginning to end this does deliver. The Rock and Jason Statham have good on screen chemistry in these roles. I even kind of liked the overall story they got into. Where this movie takes its lumps from me is a) Ryan Reynolds in cameo form still can't shake his ******* with a mouth typecasting after Deadpool, b) Kevin Hart is now in the same boat provided nearly the same comic relief smartmouth in all of his movies, c) the whole family angle is getting a little overdone in this series, and finally d) this movie series started off about being about street racing, gear heads from tuner to ricer to muscle, and the characters and situations you would run into in that kind of world to something in a completely different stratosphere from where it started--it has now gone past reasonable belief that they would be in these situations. Definitely a fun time waster.

Avengers Endgame his BR tomorrow.... DAMN .... the culmination of one of the most extended and interconnected series of movies to hit that I can remember.

I could only think of two others that might be in the same wheelhouse and that would be the Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts line and arguably the entirety of the James Bond series.

You're just now getting that? I've had it for a couple of weeks digitally.

Incredibly entertaining finish to the season. Wow. Looking forward to Season 2 (which is already in production!). Great premise, well executed. I'm all in.

And to answer the question, NFW.

Aquaman / BR
--Loved this movie. I got the BR as a birthday present. What I liked about it was it made Aquaman feel somewhat cool (versus some other incarnations), it got into all the politics of his heritage and his home--sort of like how Black Panther was handled IMO, and the action and the comedy all worked. And with this entry in the DC cinematic universe one has to wonder how they could do Shazam, Aquaman, and Wonder Woman all right but somehow keep struggling with Superman and Batman as far as the current stuff goes. That truly baffles the mind.

Avengers Endgame / BR
--Culmination of probably one of the most intricate interconnected movie franchise scenarios ever constructed. The only two things that come mind that are close are the Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts line of movies and arguably the James Bond franchise. But, back to Endgame, a pretty fitting end and hit a lot of good marks with action, comedy, and drama. Very fitting that it started with Iron Man and ended with Iron Man's funeral.

I don't know how you can even make an argument the Bond movies are intricately interconnected. There is some consistency in some of the movies but these are all basically stand alone films that work independent of the others. One main plot line in each movie; little else. Yes, Blofeld was there for many of them but you don't miss much if anything if you didn't see what he did in the last movie. Both the Avengers and Potter (can't included Fantastic Beasts - it stands entirely alone) series have multiple plot lines and characters that are consistent throughout the entire series. Bond movies rarely give context on past movie events because they don't need to. Avenger movies are ok as stand alone films but don't (can't) explain all the context from past movies and a "new" viewer misses out. Star Wars and X-Men both fit the category of "most intricate interconnected" better than Bond.

I disagree to some extent. Throughout the 60s and 70s Bonds he he had the same M, Q, Moneypenny, and the threat of SPECTRE operatives. The early 80s Moore ones had some ties to those but the two Dalton ones had their own set. The Brosnan ones had their own set, and the Craig ones had their own set. From Bond actor to Bond actor, no there weren't any direct interconnects but in their own series there were.

I'll somewhat give you Star Wars though.... as they finally are going to be at 9 + 2 spinoffs in terms of quantity. I am not sure if the any of the animated series tv shows directly tie in. And if that vein follows then Ghost in the Shell would be an option.

But having the same characters (even actors) is not the same as being interconnected. Those (Connery/Moore) movies had consistent characters and actors (somewhat) and villains (usually?) but the story lines weren't really that connected. You could watch Goldfinger and no other Bond films except, say, Diamonds Are Forever, and not really miss anything.
