This a QB driven league and these are the two best. Serviceable defenses get them to the title game. I know Marshall is the trendy pick in the east, but I predict Morgan has a monster year, and becomes a high draft pick (e.g. 2nd rd).

Sleeper: Even though my actual prediction for MT is a 4 or 5 win season, there's a chance for this team to surprise. MT will most likely (barring injuries) have the second best defense in the league behind USM. Kind of hoping for the post Manning era phenomenon to play out here when Tee Martin led UT to the national title the next season. There's a chance this Randall Johnson kid could be something and if he can manage the game without making too many mistakes there is depth at running back and return the nation's active receptions leader. And whether Johnson or Ohara wins the job MT will be have a true dual threat. The offense will have a lot more spread option/RPO looks this year. Not all the pieces are there to repeat in the east, and the schedule is brutal. But that's why this category is called sleeper.

BTW, last time Tony Franklin and an MT dual threat QB stepped on the field this happened. Sorry USM fans for the bad memories:

FIU vs. North Texas is the matchup I see happening as well. Would be a hell of a match-up.

We beating Bama along the way? Our fans won’t come out in those numbers. We’ve hosted far bigger games with far less.

The problem with your take, is that "the team" won the National Championship and that was what Brown was paid to do. It's possible that Brown had the conversation above with Young and realized the kid wasn't coachable, so he quit wasting time on that and instead used his natural gifts to give "the team" the best shot they had. It wasn't his job to make Young a NFL Superstar.

I do agree that Brown slipped heavily as a coach after that and maybe Young winning on talent alone lead to Brown growing lazy and trying similar tracks with other talented players rather than coaching them to be their best.

I predict we'll beat state this year.

A bold prediction considering when our last top 25 win occurred. I just hope we can beat Troy...we simply should not lose to Sunbelt schools and should not be playing them in the first place.

Alabama is afraid to play UAB, I’m being serious. The only time we played them in the NIT in Tuscaloosa. It’s the same school system.

Alabama is afraid to play UAB in what? Basketball? It's definitely not football.

Mack won one Title in one of the best games ever & almost won his second with a back up QB against Bama. I dunno. That’s pretty good. The recruiting in Texas is much tougher the last 10-15 years with all the schools in the state. He had some great pros & soon to be HOF NFL players.

He also had 240+ wins in 30 seasons which is very very good, it takes most coaches 35-45 years to hit 240.

The fact that Texas only won 1 Nation Championship actually supports my opinion. I think if Brown actually developed Young into a real QB they could have played in even more national title games.

As the Head Coach at Texas it was Brown's job to develop Young into the best student athlete he could be. Brown failed to do that. Young could have been so much more. He was never held to any standard by Brown. Never taught the mechanics of throwing a football. Never taught footwork. Never taught to read complex defenses. Never taught to work hard. Never taught to cope with failure. Young was never trained or made to do anything. He was allowed to get by on his talent. Since leaving Texas, Young has had a checked history of odd behavior and getting into trouble. Now Texas won't even keep him on their payroll, and Young seems to have no real education to do anything. Mack Brown needs to accept his share of the blame for this.

I think FIU and North Texas are the favorites in each division due to the superior QB play. FIU is stacked this year. The only question mark is if the team improves in stopping the run.... Otherwise we will lose to FAU.... Again.

To add, FIU found out today that Iowa CB transfer, Josh Turner, will be eligible this year. Also, former 4-star and ESPN top 300 prospect Kane Taylor (DT) popped up on the roster yesterday. FIU is still waiting to hear if Kentucky LB transfer Chris Whittaker is eligible this year. Regardless, Butch Davis is doing quite a job increasing the talent level.

I think FIU still wins the division, despite losing at FAU.

You’re wrong we won the west in 2017 when we made UNT our son and we won the west in 2019 the same way (sorry UAB fans). 05-stirthepot
