On a serious and sober note, I love the Sterrick Building (my favorite skyscraper in Tennessee) and sure hope it gets a new use.

From what I understand at the 99 year land lease is over sometime during the coming decade and a few folks are lining up. Fingers crossed.

The Sterrick is an architectural semi-masterpiece that is worthy of a new life. The Memphis skyline could be transformed with some of its current towers given new use (and night lighting) and with just, say, five new buildings of 200 feet tall or taller. I want to see it happen. I try to get to the city once every three years or so and some strong progress is being made on many fronts (breweries, restaurants, infill projects, etc.). The addition of some tall buildings would be wonderful.

It would be a very valuable piece of property in most cosmopolitan cities. Let’s face it. Sears Crosstown was an ugly industrial looking building and it was restored and the Sterrick is in limbo. I just don’t get it.

There are very few cities outside those in the top 20 or so based on MSA populations that have a building like the Sterrick. And even some of the top 20 — Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Atlanta, Seattle, Miami, Denver, Tampa, D.C. (for obvious reasons) — don't have a tall building with that type detailing, bulk and grandeur. Memphis is lucky to have such a structure.

Do the great grandkids owning it have anything in there?

I have no idea if they are even allowed in the building, they own the land lease, not the building. I talked with someone at the Heritage Foundation a couple of years ago and the land lease holders are like that bar on Cooper DNDC (don't know don't care) It will be a great day when someone wrestles it away from them.

I like the Sterrick better, but you missed Houston's 37 story Gulf Building which was the tallest building west of the Mississippi went it was built in 1929. Problem is it just can't be seen anymore because of all the other buildings lol.

Yep. My bad. Forgot that one. And it is a tremendous building. Good catch, C1991.

RE: This season's record
I admit i was off saying 8-4. The x factor being all the newer players stepping up was real nice. Brady/norvell opened it up in that temple game which is why i didn't ***** about all the turnovers after that game. In fact, even though i wasn't crazy about brady coming into the season, i can admit he certainly has improved. Other than two games, brady has been much better even if he makes a few mistakes here and there. Just throwing the ball downfield more really helped.

I can eat crow. I don't mind being wrong. I've very happy, but i'm like coach norvell, i want to win the conference championship game. It's not over yet.

Remind me not to come to most of you guys for a crystal ball reading because yours all suck, lol. This thread really didn't age well with the exception of a couple of predictions of 11-1 best case.

I think 8-4 to 10-2 was about what most people expected. 11-1 and one bad call from possibly being 12-0 is amazing. No one really saw SMU as being that good and UCF losing 3 games. It certainly worked out well that some of what appeared to be really hard games on the road didn't happen. Playing SMU, Navy and Cincy at home sure helped.

It's a family legal dispute. There isn't much more than that to get.

Also, art deco architecture like the Sears is beautiful.

RE: This season's record
When Taylor went out after Mississippi, I would have expected a few more losses

Elevation of Gainwell was unexpected, as was the level in which the receivers played

11-1

Spectacular
