ACC Network Launch Set
BREAKING NEWS:
Quote:The ACC Network will launch on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, ESPN and the Atlantic Coast Conference announced today. Just one week later, on August 29, the first conference football game will kick off on the new all-ACC platform when Georgia Tech visits Clemson for a Thursday night contest.
Follows the pattern set by the SEC Network (also showed first football game on Thursday - Texas A&M vs. S Carolina IIRC).
MORE ACCN Info in my ACCN-Links post.

Is this going to be part of ESPN+ or a separate subscription?

It will be part of a cable, satellite or IPTV subscription package in the same manner as the SEC Network or Big Ten Network. It will not be part of ESPN+.

CORRECT. Altice has already signed up, and it's generally believed that so have Sling, Hulu, Vue, etc. No word on ComCast, Spectrum, etc. yet.

At one point I heard speculation that it would replace ESPNEWS. Is that the case, or will this be a new network?

This will be a new network. I don't believe you'll find any reliable sources confirming that this was ever under consideration.

I should add, the streaming element of the ACC Network, ACC Network Extra, will also be tied to having a cable, satellite or IPTV subscription, in the same way it is today.

Yeah, honestly wasn't following it closely enough to know if that was legitimate or just a rumor. Hopefully the channel will be on Youtube TV.

It has been rumored that YouTube has already signed up to carry the ACC Network, along with the other ESPN family of networks.

RE: ACC Network Launch Set
I completely understand why ACC fans are excited for this. Dedicated coaches shows for each team, a studio show that caters to all the teams in the conference, classic games rebroadcast for when you're bored, etc. For the rest of us, at least it means there will likely be 3 additional windows for football telecasts on the ESPN family of networks, since those games will go to the ACCN.
Truthfully, though, I think in 10 years, all of these conference-centric networks are all going to be streaming platforms, and won't be surprised if a good number of schools don't have their own version of the Longhorn Network that fans can pay directly to the schools for access.

RE: ACC Network Launch Set
Quote:ACC teams will continue to enjoy unprecedented levels of exposure this fall with the launch of the ACC Network (ACCN), the new, 24/7 national platform launching on Thursday, Aug. 22. ACCN’s digital platform ACC Network Extra (ACCNX), will also air more than 400 ACC controlled live events this fall with over 800 hours of programming.
Additionally, beginning on August 22, upon launch of ACCN, ACCNX on the ESPN App will only be available to subscribers with access to ACCN through their pay TV providers.

RE: ACC Network Launch Set
I rather doubt we'll get it here on the west coast except with the most expensive sports package. Unlike B1G, not that many ACC alumni out here, and not must see like SEC (not a ton of those alumni either, but you have to watch SEC)
The ACC has been advertising on my twitter feed and those of others out here to try and get us to pressure our providers. That tells me not enough carriage out West so far.

Stadium was showing ACC reruns and I have to wonder if the ACC Network will take that away from them .

And even then, it will be SD only like we have with the Pac-12 network in FL.

I wonder if they are going to have their own ACC version of Finebaum?

That’s a good question.
A number with ACC connections already with ESPN experience.
Going to be interesting seeing how they structure the ACC Gameday Programming.

they got rid of Danny Kannell, he would have been an obvious one.
