RE: Who all has or is currently building an IPF?
There are a lot of factors, obviously, but Marshall baseball and softball have made improvements, from a consistency standpoint, since the facility was built. Baseball especially has improved while softball seems to be settling in at a higher level of consistency (sans the 2018 debacle), including an NCAA at large bid with a Top 25 ranking in 2017.

That's because we hired a coach that had a 106-110 record in 4 years at a school that isn't exactly known for success. Jennifer Steele from Jacksonville University was a bad hire from the start, lucky for us she was only here 11 months and is now the University of Delaware's problem. Marshall went 25-29-1 in 2018 and 42-20 in 2019 with basically the same roster and no Ace in the circle.
I wanted Melissa Frost (Head Coach at DII University of Indianapolis) after Shonda Stanton left for Indiana and when Jen Steele was let go. Frost played for Marshall in the 90s and in 15 years coaching she is 673-303. But the hiring of Megan Smith (Head Coach at Kansas 2010-2018) surprised me in a good way. Plus Smith done something in her 1st year that took Stanton 18 years to do, win 42 games, without an Ace in the circle. The team also broke numerous school records, HRs, RBIs, Team batting Avg and others. It also looks like Smith and her staff have killed it on the recruiting trail the last 2 years.
Sorry about my softball rant, its just that Shonda Stanton got me to actually fall in love with Marshall softball and to see what I thought was going to be the downfall of the program in 2018 got me fired up.
Back to the IPF thread.

Have it and not need it is better than needing it and not having it. If a coach has a IPF they can still practice in the heat or cold.

According to the Weather Channel it'll only be over 90 in Atlanta for 4 of the next 12 days, the highest being 92. For most of the days, the highs will be around 88. In San Antonio, the highs will be between 96 and 98 every day. So I agree with you in principle, but on average it's usually at least 8 or 9 degrees cooler in Atlanta during the summer than it is in places like San Antonio, Houston, Dallas, Austin, and El Paso here in Texas. Long-range climate data averages bear that out as well. Just saying it's not as bad in Atlanta as you may think. I have relatives who live outside of Atlanta, in Canton, and it's always cooler when I'm visiting that area than it is here.
And yeah, I believe that temperatures in big cities everywhere are still rising at around 5 or 6 because of the heat buildup on pavement during the course of the day. I think that the only places you'll have highs at around 3pm these days is in the middle of the country where there's a minimum of paved roads, parking lots, and buildings.
The heat index in July here has consistently been 8 to 12 degrees above the temperature. And it's not a dry heat...
Lol
But the real danger in FL and GA this time of year are the pop up thunderstorms on the afternoons and accompanying lightning.
Today as I speak has been one of the milder days we have had. It's 90 with a heatbondex of 91 at 4:20 PM. The next couple of days will be in the 80's which is unusual for early Aug.
We have other priorities right now but a covered field at least like UAB has would not be a bad thing.

This.
It doesn't cost that much. Pay-off over time. And as has any been mentioned you don't get to make up any practices you missed due to weather. And nothing says you HAVE to use it. You can still stay outdoors.

There's no science to support that statement only special interest groups arguing their point with facts or fake news as one may say.

Do you recall the cost?
I cant recall, I think it was around 4 million as compared to 15 million for an indoor. I think those were the numbers.
But we also had Legacy Bank come in and put in some money toward the covered field which is why its called Legacy Pavilion. Naming rights and stuff. Since the pavilion basically sits next to the highway its just a big billboard for them. I don't recall the cost split although im sure a little research could pull it up.
