Jobs BDF might be interested in
I'll start a new thread, because I think it's an interesting topic. What jobs would BDF be interested in? So West Virginia is/was a no. The potential job would have to at least be better than that one.
The one that I think could be the most realistic possibility is MSU. I think it's close enough to the top that Fick would be interested, but also not so big that he'd be in the running.
My OSU Fan friends think he would jump at Purdue/Indiana or something like that. I felt that was ridiculous and pointed to the West Virginia job that he turned down. They said, well that isn't a B1G job.
Maybe I'm alone here, but I'd be interested in a discussion about potential future jobs of our great coach.

I’d say he’ll go when offered MSU, Notre Dame, Penn St., O$U. I’d put strong consideration also to Pitt, Northwestern and Wisconsin.

Until he leaves, I am not even going to think about this. Let's just enjoy the ride.

I still think only O$U. In the past he supposedly didn't even interview at some lesser Big 10 jobs. He has a ton of school aged kids and all his family is from Ohio and he is very close to them. Uprooting kids is very hard and I honestly believe he will bide his time for O$U to open up (I hear Day has NFL aspirations and if he struggles to win at a high level, he won't be there long). If he keeps winning at UC, I guarantee you he will be very close, if not at the top, of the Buckeyes wish list and I'm 110% sure he would go back to Columbus in a heartbeat to be the head coach.
Notre Dame would be a true test. Maybe he would consider a Penn State or Michigan State (Possibly a Louisville since it is close). But even then I think his family is living quite well and has adjusted to Cincinnati and still being close to his Columbus family. He talked a lot about the right job when he took it and how family is important and not uprooting it for the wrong job.
Maybe in 5 years or so that could change as kids graduate and the younger ones get closer to high school. I honestly believe he is genuine about that and I know how hard it was on my kids to move and we went 3 miles, but to a brand new school and that was a huge adjustment. Can't imagine leaving the state and leaving all their friends and family behind.

I understand why you left them off but Michigan is in the first list. They may be his longtime rivals but it's also geographically and opportunity wise an ideal fit for him. Bo came from an OSU background and was a Michigan legend.
I agree mostly but I think I'd be comfortable taking Pitt and Northwestern off the list. Not so sure that MSU isn't in the second group vs the first. I don't think it's nearly as good a job as Wisconsin but the geographic fit is better at MSU.

These speculation threads get old.
If you are really concerned, why don't you go on campus and ask the man. Call his radio show. Etc.

RE: Jobs BDF might be interested in
Last time I'll post about Cincinnati Head Coach Luke Fickell leaving until any real articles are out about schools interested in him.
1) Ohio State: Rumors are if Ryan Day is successful he'll move onto the NFL eventually.
2) Notre Dame: Catholic, Legendary program, close to Chicago, and although small it is a nice town.
Gap
T3) Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan St....Oklahoma: If he starts getting bored at UC
Big Gap
T7+) Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Iowa, Purdue, etc. schools: Only see him taking these if he becomes unhappy at UC
Obviously if any of the other real big names/money come after him I would assume he'd look, but no clue. Alabama, Georgia, USC, Texas, etc.

Conversation piece, for a slow day, my man. It's interesting to me. Sorry it's not for you.

I would have laughed years ago about bottom feeder SEC schools like South Carolina and UK. But the SEC is so loaded with money they can probably throw enough money to make it interesting. I would hope Fick would know well enough that if they were throwing money his way, he would be better off waiting for a big fish like Alabama, OSU, etc.
I think any blue blood school should be a concern (OSU, Michigan, Alabama, ND, Florida)

I remember being very upset that PJ Fleck passed over UC for Minnesota. Bottom feeders of Power conferences is where coaches go to die.

No idea. Hard to get into any coach's head. I think he'll be picky, but what he views as the right opportunity is open for debate.

The one thing that sets off my "this might be different" alarm is how involved CLF has been in the hiring of multiple other coaches within the department. That's not something that is typical of a "riser" when you consider that it could be interpreted as him valuing the strength of the athletic department above simply his own progress. Now that's not me saying that he's staying here long term, it's just something that does seem a bit odd when you look at the MO of most 3-year coaches.

Yeah I tend to wonder if these types of things are Luke being bought it for at least the mid-term or if he brings some of this over from OSU.
Hate them or Love them: Ohio State is a top 3 athletic department/program and everyone (small sport coaches/players) buy into everything scarlet and grey in Columbus. Everyone is happy to support/help anyway they can.

Question is who approached who? I always heard Bohn reached out to CLF to assist. CLF was more than happy to oblige. Definitely shows he has a vested interest in seeing the entire AD do well.

I think you should be glad that the Richard Simmons of college coaching found himself above us. Minnesota doesn't look any better than they did with the guy before him.
I prefer guys that are gimmick free and just come in and get results.
...Unfortunately, so do other schools.

Very much so. I was disappointed with the BDF hire, until I heard him talk. Then I got it and I realized how wrong I was.

I think this is pretty spot on. I really believe that he'll hunker down and wait for the Day situation to play itself out. Day is setting himself up as some kind of offensive guru. If it works, he'll bolt for the NFL. If it blows up in his face, he's gone. I'll call my shot and say we have CLF for three more years.
