Off topic, but passing along for any interested...

...if you have ESPN-Classic and likely are suffering badly from these dog daze (sic) of summer itching for some CFB...

...lots of FSU games from the past this upcoming Thursday. Also, a trio of Louisville games from '12 and '13 a week from tonight, July 29th. Some GT, NC State, Clemson, Miami and UNC games sprinkled throughout the remainder of July as well.

Schedule courtesy of LSUFootballNet's excellent site... http://lsufootball.net/tvschedule-replays.htm

Back on topic...hoping a year from now the ACCN will be showing a bunch of great games from the past. With the libraries of Jefferson Pilot/Lincoln Financial/Raycom along with ESPN, they should have plenty to choose from.

There’s been an announcement of a new carrier signing an agreement to carry the ACCN, NCTC. I’ve never heard of NCTC before.

RE: ACC Network
Disney Media Distribution has reached an agreement with the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) that will give its members the ability to carry ESPN’s upcoming ACC Network at launch on August 22, 2019. The deal will allow fans and followers of the Atlantic Coast Conference to access the multiplatform network across the NCTC’s footprint. As part of a larger agreement, the NCTC also extended its carriage of the FX and National Geographic networks.

So what type of members? (750 small and mid-sized independent cable and broadband operators across the U.S. that serve about 15 million consumers in over 3,000 communities, mainly in rural areas)

So why does this matter:

1. Atlantic Broadband- is the ninth-largest cable operator in the United States, based on the number of television service customers served. The company provides its residential and business customers with internet, TV and phone serivces in 11 states: Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Maine, Maryland, New Hampshire, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia.

2. Armstrong - Who provides high-speed Internet, television and telephone service to residential and commercial customers in Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York, West Virginia, Maryland and Kentucky.

3. EPB - Serves an area that includes greater Chattanooga and Hamilton County, portions of surrounding Southeastern Tennessee counties and areas of north Georgia.

For a full list of the 750 independent cable and broadband operators that will carry the ACC Network please click below

I see that Northland is part of NCTC. Back when I was a student at Clemson, I remember Northland being the cable provider used at the apartment complexes I lived in. So, if they are still in use in that area, that is going to be good news for any students that aren't going to the first game.

From looking around at other press releases involving NCTC, it sounds like they have around 8 million viewers collectively. However, GTFletch mentioned 15 million, so maybe they've added more since the articles I was able to find, or perhaps 15 includes services beyond just television.

I also find it interesting that it sounds like Disney was able to leverage the contract expiration of some of the FOX properties they recently purchased to do this deal. I guess that is one way to get this done if the contracts for the other ESPN and Disney channels are not coming due anytime soon. That's just a guess on my part, but the same article mentions the FX and Nat Geo networks were also renewed.

Unfortunately, the only channels coming up for renewal with Comcast/Xfinity in August are Altitude, HITN, Rai Italia and Vivid. In September their NBA TV contract expires, along with a bunch of local Fox stations (nothing owned by Disney). I can see where that nut may be tough to crack without a whole lot of pressure from fans...

The ACCN will be running a multipart all-access series on UNC basketball this fall.
https://www.newsobserver.com/sports/arti...09613.html

It seems that documentaries will be a big part of the ACCN, at least at first. I've never watched the BTN or SECN much. Have they be doing this sort of thing?

Good deal. I had seen some articles with different figures from different years when I was looking around, so who knows how many it is going to actually be, but it is still good news.

All Good News... FWIW Down here in Georgia....Cox communications is telling people in that they will have the channel on August 22... I guess they are close, and do not want people to cut the cord... Comcast is telling folks in Georgia they are in Negoations and to wait before cancelling. I would think all good signs.
