RE: Another 11 am kickoff..
Well, I gave up my season tickets several years ago, so I watch from my easy chair. Getting old is a pain, and I just can't take the heat or the cold, so I'm happy. And anything that gives me a reason to start drinking earlier in the day, I'm all in. I choose to look for the positives...

You realize the hottest part of the day is between 3 and 4 pm.

You want to be in the middle of a game at 4 pm, tailgaiting on concrete ass Tiger Lane at 4 pm, or at home (after an 11 am game) at 4 pm?

Because the only option of those three that keeps you away from the LB during the HOTTEST part of the day is the 11 am kickoff.

You people would find fault with a $100 bill.

Who said anything about 2.30p?

How about 7 or 7.30p?

Soccer game that night.

I'm all for 901 FC, but c'mon man.

That cannot be the reason. I wouldn't doubt that's the reason, but that's a very weak reason.
if that is the reason they are DUMBER than I thought and that would be an accomplishment..

this is DUMB, all I want to know is who is the DUMBA.. that agreed to it?

Shoot, Ned's gonna have a stroke. Settle down. No one has 7:00 games vs. bobo teams now. Again, it still means setting up and tailgating during the HOTTEST time during the day. Plus it takes up the most time. If you get there at 3 and the game is over at 10:30-11:00--that's an 8 hour day. Plus, then, if you have kids <8 you gotta leave at half b/c they will be a s---tshow if you try to stay.

So, basically any game at 6 or 7 means 1/2 the crowd leaves at half because they have little ones. The 11 game gives zero f's about losing kids because you can be home by 3.

So, does it personally kick into your personal life? Does it inconvenience YOU? Because, guess what, in the big picture YOU don't matter. No offense, but you (singularly) don't. You will still go at 11. I will go at 11 with 3 others. At 7, I might go alone.

The U. is smarter to do 11 than 7. Bottom line.

Let's face reality. With so many games now being televised and with the 7 - 7:30 time slot being 'prime' if they had the FCS game at that time how many people would stay home to watch the SEC prime time game instead of coming out to see the Tigers play an FCS opponent?

Now, people can do both.

I don't know; just taking a stab.

Historically wasn't 11 am fairly typical kickoff time?

only in the Big Ten

Memphis and Iowa play more 11am games than anyone in the country.

As usual, you are wrong.

See what the attendance , lowest in recent years against for the Kroger game. It has been proven over and over again that night games draw better.

What, the 6:00 P.M. slot is not available? And a later time means at least some of the seats are shaded (on the west side, which is the fuller of the two sides), ergo, the heat is not as much of a factor.

Ok, but if one is tailgaiting from, say 2 to 5, that means that person will be standing around during the hottest part of the day. And much of the tailgait area is around hot ass concrete, so there isn't much relief at all.

Tailgaiting during the SIU game was brutal in 2017 and was even worse last year for the UConn game.

Oh yes, thanks for reminding me again how glad I am for giving up my Tiger Lane spot this year! I won't feel obligated to go spend 4 hours standing around in oppressive heat before sitting in a microwave for another 4 hours in oppressive heat! 04-rock

The Lancer is gone but maybe WMC can get Dave Brown to do the game. He is used to being on channel 5 at 11 am on Saturdays.

We have a team projected to be favored in every game, win the West and be in the running for a NYD spot. Big league teams deserve big league fans that show up regardless of circumstances.

Health issues aside, lather up the sun screen, wear a big hat and hydrate.

I think there are several points that have been brought up about this matter
1. The heat is oppressive that time of year during the day. If your seats happen to be on the visitors side of the LB, it is even worse.
2. There are other family and personal obligations that come into play that keep attendance low including kids soccer games, some people work on Saturdays, etc.
3. The LB seats 62,000. When a small crowd shows up and the TV cameras show the stadium.....Memphis looks bush league. The stadium is just to big for our current fan base and football schedule (teams we play that do not travel well).

Sorry, but those are the facts.

I'd prefer a night game in September, but....

1. At high noon or 1:00 or 2:00 it doesn't matter if you are on the east or west side. It does matter when the sun is setting.
2. I agree that night games in September typically draw a little bit bigger crowd.
3. That ain't gonna change because of a night game. (capacity has been lowered to 58,000)

the Div1aa buy game normally draws pretty well due to the Kroger $10 tickets. Ill bet they don't even sell out the tickets and Ill bet that there are more no shows than normal on the $10 tickets unless it turns out to be 75 degrees and sunny

I like 11am kickoffs. You get to enjoy the sunrise over the LBMS, drink a couple beers way earlier than is usually socially acceptable (unless you're Seabee Tiger Fan), tailgating isn't blazing hot, an excuse to cook breakfast, and we get to celebrate a Tiger victory by spending our afternoon back at the tailgate site. Then you're home by dark. Its really not that bad other than waking up early and the weather during the game will be hot.

If liberty bowl management orders enough WATER, we can add our own electrolytes.

If they'd order some cold drinks with electrolytes already in them....everyone would be more hydrated, and less likely to get sick or die from sunstroke. lol

small detail.

And about the big hats---they block the view of those of us who like to watch the game.

good to hear that some enjoy the early kickoffs, we are having one the week before because of TV (which is fine).

It will cost us 5,000 in attendance minimum and will less of an event to most in attendance.
