RE: UNCW Baseball in 2020
Sharpe pitched last for Chatham on July 3rd and was dynamite once again, extending his shutout streak to 10 innings in the Cape Cod League.

His deadline to sign with the St. Louis Cardinals is coming up this Friday the 12th.

Sharpe pitched last night in the CCL and he gave up 2 runs in 5 innings on 3 hits and struck out 5. That's his first 2 earned runs allowed in 15 innings total with 19 K's and only 5 walks. He's had a great summer.

Today is the deadline for Zarion to sign with the Cardinals. Post any updates you have if you've got them.

Don't know how up to date it is, but Cardinal Nation still has Sharpe listed as unsigned. And there's nothing on his Twitter account.

St. Louis Cardinals transactions list 7 players signed yesterday, July 11. Sharpe is not on the list.

He didn’t sign!

https://www.ksdk.com/mobile/article/news...a66f3df638

Quote:There were no last-minute signings before Friday’s deadline to come to terms with players selected in this year’s amateur draft. The Cardinals signed their top 18 picks and 31 of their top 34. Their highest drafted players who did not sign were 19th round choice Zarion Sharpe and 21st round pick Jake Owen, both college left-handed pitchers who can return to school for another season.

Great day for our program! It’s official that @zsharpe01 is coming back to school for another year. He and @coleweiss8 had opportunity’s to start their pro career’s, but have chosen to stay and help our program continue to climb and to get closer to finishing their degrees.

Looks like things are falling into place. We will probably have a healthy battle for the everyday shortstop position. Our biggest concern is at catcher. Hopefully that will take care of itself.

Suggs won that job in the last 1/4 of the season and its his to lose. He is the most talented athlete they have had behind the plate in a long time. Needs to improve but is a hard worker. Middle infield is more of a question mark to me at this point. Jac Croom and Smith look like the best on paper but you never know.

I like Suggs. And I did see him improve. But hopefully he is working hard on passed balls and blocking pitches in the dirt. I watched opposing catchers do a much better job at that. I think the drills will fix that.

Both incoming freshmen Catchers are very talented as well, so even if Suggs doesn't work out, we have a strong pipeline behind him. However, I expect Suggs will be very good this year.

RE: UNCW Baseball in 2020
So our lineup could look something like this:

1. CF Noah Bridges (Jr., L)
2. 3B Cole Weiss (Sr., L)
3. RF Kep Brown (r-Sr., R)
4. 1B Brooks Baldwin (So., S)
5. C Matt Suggs (So., R)
6. DH Chris Thorburn (So., L)
7. SS Adam Smith (So., R) / Jac Croom (Fr., L)
8. LF Noah Liles (Jr., L)
9. 2B Jackson Meadows (Sr., R)

With our weekend rotation of Gesell, Roupp and Sharpe intact. Awesome stuff!

RE: UNCW Baseball in 2020
After spending the first part of his summer with the Bourne Braves of the Cape Cod League, Noah Bridges has joined the Wilmington Sharks roster and is off to a strong start. He's 4-12 with a double, 3 RBI and a pair of stolen bases.

The Sharks had a dreadful first half and then lost their best hitter, Jake Plastiak (Wichita State). But with both Noah added and Zach Bridges hitting great of late (1 HR, 8 RBI in last 5 games), the Sharks are 5-2 and in first place in the 2nd Half Standings.

Updates from around the Summer leagues thru Jul 15:

Cape Cod League

* LHP Zarion Sharpe (Chatham Anglers): 5 appearances, 3 starts, 0-2, 1.35 ERA, 20.0 IP, 24 K, 6 BB
* RHP Landen Roupp (Wareham Gatemen): 4 appearances, 1 start, 0-0, 3.97 ERA, 11.1 IP, 14 K, 4 BB --> FINAL STATS
* OF Noah Bridges (Bourne Braves): .200 (5-25), 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 SB, 2 BB, 1 R --> FINAL STATS

Coastal Plain League

* OF Noah Bridges (Wilmington Sharks): .333 (4-12), 3 RBI, 2 SB, 4 R, .429 OBP, .417 SLG
* C Zach Bridges (Wilmington Sharks): .173 (9-52), 3 HR, 10 RBI, 2 SB, 4 BB, 7 R, .246 OBP, .346 SLG, .320 RCS %

I'd heard that would be the case for Oxendine, but Zayicek comes as a bit of a surprise.

What's the difference between the fall and spring rosters? Or is there any?
