Ah. Well, that kinda sucks then. Ended your non-pod play on the road at two teams that are expected to be very good is gonna be tough.

I assume you do realize that, if this is accurate, WKU's conference schedule will follow the exact same path as Marshall's other than for swapping travel partners?

Yep. Gonna suck for us too.

Good to hear that news. Hope that helps us get two WBB bids next year.

Also, let’s consider the half dozen or more things I thought your post might be about, after reading the first two words...

Charlotte’s CUSA schedule per Charlotte Observer

January: 2, Ala.-Birmingham; 4, Middle Tennessee; 11, Old Dominion; 16, at Marshall; 18, at Western Kentucky; 20, at Old Dominion; 23, Florida Atlantic; 25, Florida International; 30, at Louisiana Tech.

February: 1, at Southern Mississippi; 6, Texas-El Paso; 8, Texas-San Antonio; 13, at North Texas; 15, at Rice; 22, C-USA bonus play; 27, Bonus play.

March: 1, Bonus play; 4, Bonus play; 7, Bonus play; 11-14, Conference USA tournament (Frisco, Texas).

And Charlotte (and ODU too) plays the weird CUSA scenario this year where they play Thursday/Saturday then on a Monday (Jan 18), then resume back up on Thursday/Saturday

Ive learned that the games will be set in december based on ooc records to date. You play your travel partner twice, every one else once. UTEP shows 5 open slots on their schedule .

That extra Monday game really sucked last year. I would much rather play the travel partner back to back like how Marshall/WKU are doing it. Three away games from Jan 16-20 for Charlotte, and 5 games in 10 days from Jan 16-25. ODU had to do the same last year, does not feel great.

I wouldn't be so sure. MT is not where they were a few years ago but they started to get it together towards the end of the season last year and UAB should be a tier 1 team this year.

I am not 100% sure yet but I would be surprised if they finished below 6th. I am cautiously thinking 3-4.

One of our posters took the description of both the men's and women's pod systems for 2019-20 off the CUSA web site. Here's the women's description.

An 18-game format with traditional play for the first 14 games. Teams play all 13 members at least once and travel partner twice. The conference will predetermine the remaining four games (no later than December 15) with consideration for the most competitive matchups coupled with geographical constraints.

Here's the men's description.

Teams play 12 members once and their travel partner twice. Following the initial 14 games, teams will be grouped based on their finish and scheduled against four conference opponents in the final three weeks of the season for an 18-game schedule. Potential dates during group play are to be determined.

Why would they vary so drastically? And how in the world can the women use a pod system with games determined by Dec. 15th?
