there's an understatement....

All the "Big Noon Kickoff" games involve the "Big" 10 and the "Big" 12. I think it's a play off of that.

Bold move, pandering to a time zone like that. There is a little resentment there. I've heard ESPN called the Eastern Seaboard Programming Network more than a few times.
Still, none of this matters if their studio talent is still trash like it was the last time they tried a kickoff show.

They have a real uphill climb. Game day is firmly entrenched on Saturday mornings. Fox does not have anyone wearing mascot heads.

Gameday's an institution, though, that's for sure. If they want to actually make a name for themselves they'll have to come up with a different approach. Knowing Fox, they'll imitate Gameday, only with none of the talent or charm that Gameday has, and pull the plug after a year when ratings are predictably in the 0.2 range.

look at first few weeks-
week 1- they have Florida Atlantic/Ohio St. ABC has Ole Miss/Memphis, and ESPN has South Alabama/Nebraska. Is there much difference?
week 2- they have Army/Michigan. ABC has Cincy/Ohio St. I'd say ABC has better game there
week 3- they have Ohio St/Indiana. ABC has Pittsburgh/Penn St. ABC with better game there

so in first 3 weeks alone, ABC has the better matchup for sure in 2 of the 3 weeks. What has to frost Fox is that the game that is beating them is a Big Ten game itself.

I'd also guess you may see ESPN take GameDay to some noon kickoffs themselves.

You have a clear anti-fox bias for some reason.

it's more amazing how everyone else wants to fawn all over Fox like it's the second coming. Their football schedule lags FAR behind ABC/ESPN. They have pretty much exactly what ABC/ESPN has in the Big Ten, Pac 12, and Big 12- and has nothing from the ACC or SEC.

All this is is putting lipstick on a pig. ABC is going to beat Fox in their supposed best game of the day several times this fall. Nothing has changed.

It's almost like people like having options and don't have a huge hard on for ESPN.

He's still plugging away at 83 years young. Though we may soon be at the point where they only have him do the mascot head pick. He was struggling last season. But ESPN's fast running out of institutions (Bob Ley being the most recent). So if he wants to keep doing it, they should absolutely accommodate him to the best of their ability.

RE: FOX names pregame show "Big Noon Kickoff"
I don't think FOX has any crazy dreams of taking over College Gameday. The last ~25 years Gameday has been as much a part of college football as bands, cheerleaders, mascots and tailgating.

Their pregame show looks like mostly studio and for an hour prior to kickoff. Gameday is the outdoor stadium experience with all the bells and whistles that has made it so famous and runs for 3 hours, it's an event.

Fox will get some Big 10, Big 12 and PAC fans who are looking for a change. That's my guess and I have no idea what to expect?

I'll definitely give it a shot. I really like "BTN Tailgate" as well so I have plenty of options.

I can't even watch gameday anymore. It's just so by the numbers these days. It hits the same points at the same time every Saturday. Corso can also bite a big one. That guy was the biggest ass to the Big East after the first raid. The first season louisville was in the Big East they hosted Miami and the Hurricanes came out and stomped on the cardinal at the 50. Corso then called the Louisville players Miami rejects. Louisville blows them out. WVU plays Ou in the Fiesta Bowl Corso says this...

WVU won by 3 touchdowns.

no I am realistic. Fox's package of games compared to ABC/ESPN absolutely sucks. They have pretty much equal in Big Ten, Big 12, and Pac 12, but ABC has access to the ACC, along with the AAC top games which aren't bad. ESPN has access to the SEC as well.... Fox's best game isn't going to necessarily be better by any stretch of the imagination vs the 2nd or even 3rd best game on ABC- would really depend on the weekend....

The only way that Fox can get better in football is if they do one of 2 things-
1- get the SEC from CBS
2- get a far better package from Big Ten.

if they don't do either of those things, they are always going to be the red headed step child in college football to ABC/ESPN. Better games draw. And ABC/ESPN clearly have the stronger package. No matter what Fox fanboys want to make you think....

Serious question, what is a Fox fanboy? Are there really people on here that root for a network?

Surprised this thread turned into this to be honest. Is it hate for Fox or hate for the teams they are covering? I'm seriously confused on how a pregame post can be disputatious.

Nope. 47% is a minority.

They’re free to pander to the ETZ but the northeast sucks at supporting CFB and ACC/SEC states will stick with ESPN so they better hope Michigan/Ohio/Pennsylvania tune in in droves or it’ll be a quick casualty.

They will, check the viewership numbers. You brought the ACC into the conversation, not me. ACC fans don't even watch their own teams, why should Big 10 teams worry about them watching theirs? Is that what you're referring to?

Correct me if I'm wrong please. Top ten games last year per viewers = 20 teams. Eight of those 20 were from the Big 10. Put Big 10 games on at 9 am on CNN and they will get the numbers. The fans are loyal and and there is no disputing that.

Sec is dominate, no disputing that either. Thing is, everybody thought the Big 10 on Fox would fail last year. It did pretty good and I was fine with their coverage.

Big 10 and Big 12 drew good numbers last year. Fox, ESPN, ABC and whatever time slot it didn't really matter.

I was pleasantly surprised with their college football coverage. I didn't think it would be a failure numbers wise. It was the actual coverage that concerned me. Go from all those years with ABC/ESPN and the familiar faces to the new guys at FOX. There were certainly questions that fans here anxiously waited to be answered.

Also happy that the BIG could ink a deal with ESPN too. The way things are going I'm starting to see where it could be all in with FOX in one part of the country and all in with ESPN in another. Maybe that means 2 giant leagues (conferences) to makes things easier? That's a topic for another day.
