Strength Coach breaks down the Bball Team.
Cool article from the CA. My favorite quote was about Wiseman

James Wiseman - “He’s got a lot of physical gifts that are just God given. But he’s probably got a 32-inch waist. Broad shoulders. Good legs. There’s not much piecing those two things together, though. So we’re really working with James on his core strength. His hips, lower back. We’ve got to tie together those unique qualities he has to make sure it all functions as one. He’s coming in extra on days off to do extra core work to make this happen because if it’s not all tied together in a good package, stuff will start to chip away.”

Great read. Never seen anything like it, at least tiger related.
Wiseman has a 32 inch waist. Jeez.

Yes, very interesting. Something that stuck out to me is on Tyler Harris...

“I think everybody in our program, we would just like to see his work capacity be greater. "

What does that mean? He isnt working hard, or that if they can get him stronger he can do more than he can currently? Work capacity seems like they are saying he has a lot of room for improving the amount of work he puts in... but hopefully I am reading that wrong.

To me it reads that he gets tired too easily... needs more endurance.

In combination with the rest of the description of him, I’m leaning towards hard work/ effort-related. You’d think he would be working harder than anyone, being undersized and having his position threatened by the newcomers and everything.

Sounds like he's practicing basketball but not spending enough time training, we'd love everyone to be perfect, but I think there are plenty of examples of great basketball players that would look bad on the runway compared to weight lifters. We'll see.

The biggest thing I got from all of those comments is the "playing through contact" thread on almost everyone. Looks like we're aiming to be a pretty physical team and I can't wait to see it.

boy o boy. Gives waspwaist new meaning.

On the flip side, I'm very gratified our Strength coach evaluates weaknesses ...and knows what kind of results a fully integrated body can bring to anyone's game.

Our players will benefit the rest of their lives from this kind of insightful training.

And I ain't kidding in the least.

Yes I would like to see some physical play.

I also wonder what other program he was referring to...

Sounds to me as if he is expecting the other teams to be overly physical with the Tigers and he wants them to be able to finish the play despite the physical play.

I took that to mean they want to maximize Tyler's time on the floor so he won't be picked on because of his height. He mentioned stay in front of his man longer so that he's a two way player.

Tyler does work hard and he's not giving up best shooter on the team any time soon. However, he has to be adequate on the defensive end and he has to put in the weight room work in the offseason to get that done.

RE: Strength Coach breaks down the Bball Team.
I included this in another thread. Since we have the new thread.

Shout out to the CA and Jason Munz for this 2 part piece. This was very insightful. Jason may not be the beat writer permanently but getting into the depth of the program and providing this level of detail sets a whole new standard. The is the inside info Tiger fans crave. This will be a tough act to follow.

Darby Rich is a great find for the program and has his pulse on what the team needs to get better. I was surprised to read DRich's thoughts on Wiseman, DJ, Ryan Boyce and Jayden. After reading his comments, this team is young and will struggle at times. But I'm confident that if we fail, we won't be for a lack of effort, toughness and acumen.

3 months of serious strength training can have a great impact on their game. For some it can be transformational.

Having gone through 3 months of Army basic training...I can say that is a correct statement.

I also wonder what other program he was referring to...

Isn't he from A&M 03-idea .... More than likely the program he came from
