RE: Best away game for a good time.
Last year some Arkansas fans got in a fight with eachother while tailgating when they played Ole Miss in Little Rock. Good times!

Games at the Rock just got a lot more interesting from an away fans perspective. App has a great fermentation science program. I'm sure the student ran brewing will be featured and all the Asheville beers that'll be available.

I'm ok with selling alcohol at games, but not in Boone until the figure out how to run concessions. It's already a huge fustercluck without throwing alcohol into the mix.

I'm looking forward to my first Saturday game in Statesboro. I haven't seen Georgia State's new stadium. And, I'll visit Coastal for football for the first time this year....on a Thursday night.

But I've been saying for years....The fans in Troy have never met a stranger. I love going there.

You will like it. 04-cheers

The tailgating for darn sure won't measure up to Lafayette or even App and is nothing to write home about, but the actual stadium atmosphere is as good as any in the conference, especially for a big conference game for Family Weekend (which always brings good crowds).

Really?

I've been to a lot of P5, G5, and FCS stadiums (including Louisiana, Troy, ULM, USA, and GAST from the Sun Belt) and I'd put the tailgating at Paulson up against any of them.

I'm sure tailgating as a Southern fan at Paulson is a damn blast. As an opposing fan it's a little rough, bud. But I mean, sometimes that makes it fun.

Well then come tailgate with me and Klak next time.

If you tailgate at the PAC or RAC, then you're going to run into a lot more students. In the stadium lot though, you should be fine. Open invite to hang out with us and if anyone tries to act up we'll take care of it.

That goes for anyone on the board. Just let us know you want to drop by.

You know that scene in Star Wars where Luke has to go into the dark side cave? Luke asks what's in there and Yoda says "only what you take with you".

Coming to Georgia Southern as an away fan is like that. If you show up in the Paulson lot and act normal, you'll find plenty of people who will offer food, drinks, and conversation. This has happened at my tailgate and everything went great. We're all just college football fans.

If you act like the handful of App fans we saw last year that were walking up and down every aisle making nasty comments a little louder than was appropriate, then yeah, you're probably gonna have a bad time.

Now, if you show up to fraternity row or the Robin Hood neighborhood on the east side of the stadium, yeah, you'll run into tons of drunk students. That's not going to go well at any school.

Jonesboro isn't remotely the same as when I lived and went to school there. You can get booze in the stadium or any restaurant. There is a downtown with a lot of bars and restaurants. There are a lot of new hotels and a soon to open Embassy Suites and Convention Center next to the stadium. The stadium itself has become an attraction with all the renovations.

There is definitely no reason to stay in Memphis and drive over any longer.

RE: Best away game for a good time.
Around 1995 I was just about broke. I had money coming but for the next few days I think I had around $20 to my name. I decided to go ahead and pay the $12 to watch a game at Statesboro. As I approached the ticket booth a guy walks up to me and handed me a ticket. It was right on the 50 yard line too.

How did he know how broke I was?

In the main tailgate area next to the stadium you'll find plenty of hospitality. I can just about guarantee you if you take a stroll through the lot with a smile and drink in hand even sporting an App logo the bigger the tailgate the more welcoming the crowd. I'd be willing to bet that you wont make it past the first row without an invite and some good conversation and eats. This likely goes for all of us. If you've made the effort to take the trip take advantage walk around and make some friends for a good time. The crowd is the same every year for the most part.
