Pretty embarrassing Mick didn't even make a phone call or stop by the school. Not a highly ranked player, so no reason Mick could have used the "too good for us" excuse. I have no doubt JB would have been all over this recruitment had he been here.

Too much effort for Mick. Lazy ass recruiter while here. He better up his game at UCLA.

Now that Mick is gone, I am enjoying seeing his weak minded philosophy exposed. Sooner than later people will realize we were all "Micked".

Who knows the reason why he didn't even call Hayes, but my gut tells me it was some weird Mick-pride thing, and he stuck his bottom lip out. Or he didm't want to cause any issues with his recruitment od Nsosome.

Just think if we had Jaxson...we could have won the NIT just like Texas last year!

This guy seems to be the ultimate "potential" player.

In Tyrion Lannister's defense, ESPN said that he didn't even start for Moeller until he was a Sr.

I also saw where he averaged something like 10 and 5 at Texas. Good, not great.

Do I think we're better at basketball than Texas? Yes.

Are we going to beat out Texas for many recruits? Probably not.

Yeah, Tyrion should have at least tried to get this guy, but I don't know if I'd drop the 8th pick on him.

Every guy who turns into a player wasn't an egregious miss.

Yea, but Mick looks foolish when he doesn't even bother to check in on the kid when he is starting to blow up and right in his own backyard. By the time he commited he was not a complete unknown, he was getting looks for UK and other big names.

There is no excuse for not at least taking a look at local talent. No, Jaxson Hayes wasn't going to lead us to a national championship last year, but it's pretty egregious that a 4-star recruit in our backyard didn't even hear from us.

This reminds me of another coach at UC...

Its been down no doubt but I do believe it’s on the rise and hopefully gets to the level that we all thought it would be when the conference started.

Hayes picked up offers from Ohio State and Purdue the summer prior to his senior year. He picked up an offer and was visited by Kentucky/Calipari the September prior to his senior year.

In a sense, I get that Hayes had a great senior season after doing very little in the prior years but when schools like those are offering him EVEN BEFORE that season, you'd think that would have caught someone's attention down at UC.

See this right here is why a LOT of us wanted to move on from Mick. I don't care if we are in the Missouri Valley Conference playing in the Armory Field House. UC should ALWAYS out recruit Texas and at the very least the fanbase, coaches and boosters should have that attitude whether it's true or not.

Yeah, when has Texas ever been a hoops power?

How has the UCLA recruiting been going?

So in this year's draft alone, we had two Cincinnati guys go in the first round (Hayes and Bazely) and another who grew up here (Kyle Guy) go in the second...local recruiting is important!

I am not a Mick fanboy, but he was probably did the correct thing by not recruiting the two local kids. Both kids would have only been here a year. Personally, I think Bazley is a train wreck.

Yeah, it would be nice to have two players go in the first round, but Mick was taking the long term view with both.

Congrats to both players for being drafted high.
