Redshirted 2018-19
Jason Andersen (6'0, 175, PG, Fr) - Logan, UT
Clayton Southwick (6'7, 220, PF, Fr) - Palmer, AK

UVU had a bowel movement losing 160 of 175 starts.

RE: 2019 WAC off-season transfers...
According to Verbal Commits, Damari Milstead is transferring from GCU. I find that odd since he was essentially the Lopes starting point guard most of last season; and getting a lot of playing time.

Given the depth GCU has at the position, the loss of Damarci is less concerning at this point than the lack of additions made to the roster thus far. GCU has lost 7 total scholarship players to graduation and transfers from the 2018-19 team, yet have only added 1 scholarship player back (Blacksher).

Really don't see this boding well for next season. Only 3 returning scholarship players who have actually played in a game for GCU. Lopes fans like myself may be in for some rough waters ahead, while those looking to bask in the ultimate demise of Coach Majerle may very well have their chance.

RE: 2019 WAC off-season transfers...
But why? Why is milstead leaving? Are the incoming guys just more talented and he sees the writing on the wall? I don’t begrudge anyone trying to find playing time and all, and GCU has a way of running off guards. But he was with a former teammate and friend in Oscar Frayer. I hope Dan can find a couple more guys this summer. Maybe recruit the international circuit. Do something. You gotta reload.

I was told that Damari was getting his lunch eatin most days in practice from Brown Mikey and JJ who were all on the scout team. Also Jovan has been compared to Russell by some. I think there are some similarities but he is still an incoming freshman. I'd expect some 4 guard line ups for GCU this next year if this is mostly the make up of the team. I also think Damari's dad had a lot to do with his transferring out.

It has been an odd off season in the WAC so far. Both UVU and UMKC have new coaches and are in rebuilding mode. GCU cleaned house of its' coaching staff under Majerle; and, now is trying to regain its recruiting legs. The WAC has a lot of its top supposed returning players transferring out... Matej Kavas, Jarkel Joiner, Jake Toolson, Xavier Bishop, Damari Milstead, Cameron Bowles, Mike Henn... In all 38 WAC players have transferred.

With transfer rules relaxing, I think the WAC will turn into a proving ground. Players who have one or two outstanding seasons will transfer to P5 schools. Players want to be in the NCAA postseason. The CIT and CBI do not have the same prestige. With players transferring, participating in these tournaments will no longer be beneficial to have a team play a few extra games, especially when that team will not be the same makeup the following season.

Transfers are a two-way street for the WAC, as several of the guys who have been and/or will figure to be top players in the conference moving forward (e.g. AJ Harris, Carlos Johnson, Milan Acquaah, etc.) arrived via transfer.

Great work compiling all this information. There has been a lot of changes this offseason. The only loss for CBU was the graduation of Jordan Heading. He will be replaced by graduate transfer guard Brandon Boyd from Idaho State (14.2 ppg / 3.6 apg) and transfer guard Ferron Flavors Jr. from Fairfield (12.3 ppg / 3.6 rpg/ 95 threes).

Returning is the leading scorer in the WAC (Milan Acquaah), the leading rebounder in the WAC (De'jon Davis), the 2nd best shot blocker in the WAC (Zach Pirog). CBU returns 3 of their top 4 scorers. Mikey Henn's 6 points and 4 rebounds per game will be replaced by Tristan Forsyth, who has a similar game to Mikey Henn. CBU is well positioned to make a run at the regular season title. Obviously, NMSU and GCU will go in as the favorite's, but CBU should be in the mix if they stay healthy.

For UVU, Isaiah White is not transferring and Connor MacDougall still has one year of eligibility. The wolverines are gonna look completely different from last year but I’m optimistically thinking they’ll still compete to be in the top 3

I noticed White and McDougall were still on the UVU roster. I have updated my list above to reflect it now.

McDougall appears to have a never ending college basketball career. One year at Arizona State, one year at South Mountain CC, two years at New Mexico (albeit one season was as a medical redshirt), and now soon-to-be two season at Utah Valley. In five season, McDougall has only played in 54 Division basketball games.

I don't think Utah Valley will be as strong as last season but I think they could still be in the mix for the second best team in the WAC (behind NMSU) along with Grand Canyon, Seattle, and Cal Baptist.

In my mind the most improved team in the WAC next season could be Chicago State. Irvin looks to have had a very productive recruiting season.

Seattle U did the least recruiting wise to help their cause but simply getting healthy might be enough to be a factor this season.

GCU signs Arkansas/Colorado St transfer Lorenzo Jenkins (6'7, 210, SF, GR). He will be the second recent CSU transfer to join the WAC, as CSUB also picked up Jack Schoemann (6'7, 175, SF, Fr) from Colorado State.
