Probably because Vanderbilt was returning a sophomore who had thrown 6 passes and NIU has a 2 year returning started.

Not exactly unbiased or objective but at least it's positive.

That quote was from Childers....03-hissyfit

I blindly trust Coach Hammock. If he was happy enough to bring Bowers here to pilot his new system, then I’m happy too. The kid must be quite good.

Audibles? What are those?

You mean you don't HAVE TO run straight into a 9-man box just because that's the play called from the sideline?

I will always remember Carey screaming at one of his QBs on the sidelines to let him be the coach after the kid changed a play that he suspected would fail based on the defense alignment.

Great situation for Valenti to sit behind Bowers for 2 years and grow. Lets hope he really developes and becomes the guy in 2021. Between the QB's moving to wr and moving to another school, there is just Valenti and Davis left. And I don't have much faith in Davis.

Here are Bryce Carey's stats, posted by Next College Football Athlete (NCSA):
Class of 2019, Middleton HS, Wis.

Height: 6'2"
Weight: 185
Age: 18
Prim. Position: QB
Sec. Position: WR
40 Yard Dash 4.59
5-10-5 Shuttle 4.3
Bench Press 205
Squat 365
Vertical 32
Broad Jump 108

Videos also show him playing pass defense. On offense, more running than passing, and plays looked like designed runs rather than run-pass options. Also used shotgun rather than under-center snaps. Listed "extras" include Honors Class in physics and AP classes in psychology and environmental science. Also played ice hockey.

Another "QB" who might find a home at another position some day? But seems a good all-around athlete based on available info.

Anyone any more on how Bowers is doing?

Bowers, Childers and Thompson will all be leaving at the same time. So if Valenti isn’t the guy or leaves or whatever, it will be this walk-on Bryce or a redshirt fresh that comes in the ‘20 class. A lot can happen in 2 years and another Bowers could fall in their lap, but if not, they may be feeling the repercussions of the failed qb recruits of the last 2 years.

But for now...Bowers to the MACC!

I'm confident that Coach Hammock has assessed the QB situation and will be handling the situation well, between recruits and transfers. If turkey Carey were still here, he would latch on to one of the young recruits, make him starting QB, and beat the kid into the ground. There was virtually nothing about Carey that I liked. All I can say is, good luck, Temple (you'll need it)! This year will be fun for us.

Hammock can really differentiate himself from Carey if he can get good QBs in here. Carey struggled horribly at the position and that was reason #1 he needed to be gone. I’m eager to see what Hammock can do with recruiting QBs.
