Don't forget about him. Add a healthy Doaks to the backfield and dayum. We've had a stud running back before but we've NEVER had this stable of horses:

Tavion Thomas SO 6-2 235
Gerrid Doaks JR 6-0 222
Truck Warren JR 5-11 218
Charles McClelland SO 5-11 190

Imagine having one more year of this depth.

The ONLY knock on him that might screw with his "draftibility" is his speed...he's definitely not the most fleet of foot. However, his ability to split out, catch passes in route, and literally never go down on first contact could make him extremely attractive in later rounds.

Widely believed also that James Wiggins could go pro after this year and correct me if I'm wrong but would mark the first time in UC history we've had a player get drafted after their junior year.. Warren going pro would make it our first 2 both in the same year. Wolfe, Barwin, Pead, Kelces were all seniors. Warren is one I'd love to see go pro - RB lifespans are so short the earlier he can get out there on Sundays the better and our stable here is stocked full the way it is.

We have never had a FB player leave early for the draft and we’ve never started a season in the top 25. I hope to see both soon.

I wonder what his straight up 40 time is? He definitely is not a burner or a start and stop and accelerate in a burst type of guy. But, when he hits the hole and gets that low center of gravity going, I'll bet he's fast enough. In addition to BearcatMan's points, Truck has great vision and the ability to follow his blocks/find the right hole. That will help him in the NFL as well.

I view "The Truck" as the polar opposite of Trent Richardson. He had great combine numbers, but no vision, and he couldn't handle much contact.

What is Truck's "yards after contact" stat is if there is such a thing. Mark? Another trait we didn't mention is the guy just gets stronger as the game goes along. Or, everyone else wears down but he stays a Steady Eddie.

Remember this from the Military Bowl? If you don't want to watch the whole thing go to the 1:10, 1:50, 3:24 marks....

^^ I think Ruckles is saying Trent Richardson could not take contact, not Mike Warren. As you said Warren seems to keep going strong late in the game while the defenses wear down. That's a testament to his lower body strength, endurance and his conditioning. Warren is one of these guys who doesn't seem to break off the big runs until after he gets 15-20 touches in a game. With the number of backs we have in the stable, I hope getting fewer touches doesn't affect his game.

I think part of his success late in games was due to him wearing down the opponent, but I also think he was figuring out the opposition's weak spots and defensive tendencies.

RE: Bearcats Football Will Enjoy A Special Season
Go Joe Bruin agrees on UC's season...

Quote:UCLA Football Early 2019 Schedule Preview: Cincinnati Bearcats

I’ll just say it, the first season of the Chip Kelly era did not impress but hope shined through towards the end of 2019. The UCLA football team would be in what the casual observer might perceive as a “free fall,” but in reality, the Bruins were just getting their wings.

The Bruins are ready to break out, I can feel it, but they are a year behind a team that already has things figured out. Though the first game of the season seems like it will be a difficult one for the Bruins, it will start to tell us where the team is going.

I am not going to lie to you, I want to find faults in the Cincinnati Bearcats, but it is tough. I am not saying they are the second coming of Alabama, but this is a team that is young and continues to rise.

It’s quite the feat head coach Luke Fickell has done in his first two years at the Bearcat helm, and it looks to be getting even better.

Now here is the thing, if you have followed me on Go Joe Bruin, you know that I have been raving about the improvements with the Bruins heading into the second year of Chip Kelly’s tenure. I genuinely believe they have a legitimate shot at beating the Bearcats, but the more I read up or watch video of Cincinnati, the more I can see that they are a team on the move and have a lot of confidence.

Solid analysis over there. I also read their article ranking their 2019 opponents and they rank us their third toughest game behind Oklahoma and Stanford. Quite the turnaround from last year when they ranked us their easiest game. Scheduling these guys definitely gained us a ton of respect on the west coast. Would love to send them home to Cali with another loss!

We need the Nip to be LOUD that night. Hopefully have some good recruits in attendance.

UCLA is such a big game for the entire season, fan base, and program.

1) We really need to have a great atmosphere/sellout for fan base momentum. If its sold out and we win this game it should carry over to the following weeks. Now if we start 2-0 consider Nippert sold out all year. I got my season ticks!
2) More importantly, a win would put the team in a good spot going into week 2 where we will be tested in a tough road game (But all the pressure would be on OSU).

RE: Bearcats Football Will Enjoy A Special Season
For those with an Athletic subscription there was a good back and forth Q&A with Mike Denbrock posted this morning.

Justin Williams asked a lot of great questions on keeping all the skill guys happy and seeing the field, Fickell as a coach and person, his connection to Fickell (found it interesting while he was WR/OC at ND, he scheduled to sit down with DC Fickell at OSU to breakdown the bowl game they had just played against each other and analyze each other's tendancies), and his history with great TEs and the TE room he has now "I don’t know that I’ve been in a tight end room ever in my career that has the depth and the quality that we have here. That’s just the truth. From top to bottom, the five guys that we have in that room right now"

They are posting vegas season win odds on the main board. I don't have the link, but UC is listed as 5.5 wins.

ouch

Vegas is pretty good at what they do and I realize our schedule is a tough one but man, 5.5 wins???

It meant conference wins only.

I haven't seen any real over unders for UC yet this year. Consider me skeptical. If this is actually the number (it's not) bet everything you own.
