If you had to choose, which would you go with - D2 or Convo?

Convo may change this year since it’s now a $50 donor lot, but we’re in the same boat as you and went with D2 last year. We don’t arrive until 60-90 minutes before kickoff most weeks. When you arrive that late at Convo, good luck finding a spot that isn’t occupied by tailgaters taking up more spots than they have passes for.

D2 is a little more chill and easier for late arrivers. It’s also convenient to the bus stop to hop on the shuttle for a brief ride.

I'd say convo, because since it requires a donation now you won't have a bunch of oversold riff raff going wild in the lot, and it should be a better exit plan for traffic. Over at D2 this year, you'll have to also deal with the convo lot catch-all replacement lot, C10 (nearest Rose Library) exit traffic as well. Both have shuttle service, but Convo walk is marginally closer.

Do you think that many will shift away from Convo due to the donation requirement?

Convo used to be the "catch all" lot... so if you bought a family plan, or other ticket deals, not just season tickets, you'd get a convo pass. Now those folks will get a C10 pass. So between the donation requirement, and the give away passes, yes I think Convo will lose a ton of traffic this year.

Shhhhh!!!

At least a few car full of those folks are worse than 8th graders with bus seats. My folks experienced a bunch of judgmental glares when they parked a couple spots in from the tennis courts two years ago. They moved rather than deal with pre-teens.

Yes there certainly is a sense of entitlement for a lot of the C-4 tailgaters and it seems to get worse every season. Unless someone steps up to enforce some parking rules there will always be a "battle" between those that use their one spot and those that feel it's appropriate to take 4 spots with one pass. JMU Police and Facilities folks drive thru and don't seem to care even when the drive lanes are like a mine field. It would only take one time for JMU to enforce and remind people of the policy and most people would get it.

Aside from folks doing the right thing and/or from JMU simply enforcing the one pass one spot rule; divide the lot in half, one side the tailgate area and the other side parking only area. Parking area pass costs say $100 (don't remember the actual cost) and the tailgate area cost $200 but you get two spots, one to park and the other directly behind you set up you truck-load of stuff. Everyone is happy and JMU makes a couple extra bucks.

The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.

Back in p lot space 196. Seats—section 209, U. We like U because it’s covered by the upper deck in case it rains.

From the desk of BSKB:

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you're looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money but what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter parking space go now, that will be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you and I will kill play hilarious pranks on you.

Ha, at the same time. P lot gets a slight adjustment so really the numbers aren’t exactly exact from what I remember hearing.

Ok, so someone give me the nickel tour here-

Been a season ticket holder on and off for years (some years with kids sports it made no sense), but have always just gotten whatever was available once we decided to order sometime in late August/ September.

So, I’m now in the “reseating queue” in about 3 hrs. How does this work? I get the login stuff and have already looked around, how do I do the actual picking? I’ve got preferences in, but they appear to be gone already (family plan, so GP seating).

Am I on there with a real person? Do I just pick four seats randomly and hope I don’t screw up the seat and row numbers? How much time is allotted for my bemusement? Etc

Thanks!

RE: FB Parking
Dunk it's pretty easy. At your appointment time, the site lets you click on seats and add to your "cart". The family plan/Public seats are any of the light purple/gray sections, and available seats are in bright circles (seats already taken are darkened and un-clickable). Choose your preferences and submit, and then wait till September to enjoy!

If you can't make your appointment, JMU Ticket office is online all day and choosing seats/parking for anyone who doesn't attend their online appointment, and they'll fill your request according to the preferences you've had (or history if no preference specified).

Call into the Ticket office at 540-568-DUKE if you have any issues or questions. There's another appointment every couple minutes... I think it's 2 or 3 minute intervals nowadays.

RE: FB Parking
I don’t pick until tomorrow and I’m stoked. Of course I’ll have slim pickings by the time I’m at the plate. Like most, I like end seats and don’t want to be squished in the middle of the row (unless it’s near the ends of a top/bottom row). I know there’s not a bad seat in the house, but does anybody has any suggestions for 2 Priority seats from what’s left in the 100/200s?

RE: FB Parking
Polish Hammer - lots of good aisle seats left in 211/212 last I looked. I think anything from row U back is under cover too for the 200 sections. Will have to look and see what available tomorrow.

Thanks Deez, hadn’t thought of the “add to cart” idea.

Sounds simple enough

I have a 2 month old rn, does anyone know where the speakers are located in the stadium? Not sure how much I should care about this, but figured I'd try to figure out where the artificial noise was coming from.

LOL. Reminds me of a couple games I took in when we had a newborn. One was a hockey game and when the home team scored they let rip a foghorn that would wake the dead. The other was a game at Temple and they had the most awful screeching sound that was supposed to sound like an owl but was worse than fingernails on a chalkboard. Luckily, with the stadium filled to about 5% capacity we were able to move and find a suitable location.

Most of the sound you're going to get from the edges of the videoboard, but the speakers are driving in all directions. I don't know if there's a less quiet area in the stadium. I'd recommend earplugs for baby.

I don't think we pipe artificial noise FWIW
